Bleeding at 24 weeks

I've just had a bit of vaginal bleeding - some last night, some this morning. I'm not panicking as it's old blood, and I'm going to go over to the hospital this afternoon when we're over that way anyway (unless things get worse or it turns to fresh blood).

Does anyone have any experience of second trimester bleeding?

I had a tight feeling all over my abdomen yesterday - I said to DH, "I'm going to have to buy some bigger trousers soon." This morning I've had a cramp or two but I often get funny sensations like that in my abdomen, especially as I have IBS.

I've felt baby moving since the bleeding started, although less than usual (but that's probably coincidence - he's not very wriggly). The blood isn't mucous-y.

This is my 3rd pg, second baby (DC1 miscarried at 8 weeks). I had no complications at all with DS who's now 2.5 y.o. and so far this pg has been straightforward in every respect.

Hi Angel Yes! I'm 26 weeks and last week felt a horrible gush and passed lots of old blood before bedtime... I spoke to the labour ward who told me to take paracetamol and call them if it got worse or had more pain (I had period like aching). It pretty much stopped overnight but I had an appt anyway the next day and they checked and everything seems ok... Over a week on and all is well with baby! I would definitely call in and speak to a midwife on the labour ward if I were you... And if you're rhesus negative you'll need an anti d.... I forgot about this and labour ward didn't mention it, my consultant picked up on it the next day.... Hope all goes well for you and baby too Smile

Can't offer any advice but I just wanted to say that I hope that everything is ok. I think it is probably worth contacting your midwife or popping in to hospital just to put your mind at ease.

I had a massive bleed at 25 weeks. Resulted in hospital thinking I was going into labour, having steroid injections, and staying in hospital for 3 days.

It turned out to be cervical erosion, placenta previa and tested positive for high protein content in my urine.

DD is an energetic and loud 4 month old now Smile Hope everything went ok with the hospital, best of luck.

Phone the labour ward if you can. I totally freaked out mind and called an ambulance Blush They'll just want to check you out and won't mind at all.

Thanks. :)

I spoke to one of the midwives at the labour ward earlier who said to come in for them to check me. I'm just waiting till this afternoon as the hospital is a little way away, and we're planning to be up that way this afternoon visiting family anyway.

Kelbells, that's reassuring to hear! I had bleeding at 13 weeks with DS, but not anything after that. This is more of a dribble than a rush - if it gets more, we'll probably go this morning instead of waiting.

Oops, cross-posted. likelucklove, that sounds like it must have been scary.

Thanks for all your answers. I went to the hospital and I had to stay in last night for observation while they gave me steroid injections (ouch). I'm home again now as the bleeding has stopped and am going in for a scan tomorrow.

Thankfully it went better than I expected - I was worried about my 2.5 y.o. I've never been away for a night, he rarely sleeps through, he and I co-sleep and DH has never ever dealt with any night wakings. It was fine though and he didn't seem to miss me. :)

Glad to hear it Grin let us know how you get on tomorrow! X

Flippin' hospital didn't make the appointment for either the scan or the consultant's follow up. Hmm I've managed to get a scan tomorrow afternoon - and a consultant appointment will be made at some point afterwards - who knows when. Grrr.

Scan today - no obvious cause for bleeding, so hopefully okay. :)

I'm glad the scan went well. Maybe just one of those things?
