Had quite bad period pains since yesterday eve. Like a constant dull ache. Was aware of it last night as I was sleeping too. Then this morning DP and I had sex. I orgasmed Blush but when I was cleaning up afterwards I noticed a brown blood stain on the sheets. And when I went to the loo, I wiped and there was some more brown blood and I tiny, tiny clot of red blood.

I just went to the loo again and this time there was the slightest pinky stain.

I'm shitting myself. Please tell me it's going to be okay.

How many weeks are you? It's probably nothing to worry about. You can always phone your midwife for reassurance.

totallyheadfunked · 13/07/2012 08:42

8weeks. And my boobs aren't sore today either :(

Do you still have pains now? Have you got a midwife who you can phone? If not, phone your GP or Early Pregnancy Unit.

It might just be due to you having sex but bleeding and pain should be checked out.

Good luck.

Mama1980 · 13/07/2012 08:46

I would give your midwife a ring love. Probably nothing but I was told it is best to get any bleeding etc checked out. X

ValiumQueen · 13/07/2012 08:59

I had something similar, and all was fine. Best get it checked though x 8 weeks is a common time for a slight bleed due to the rhythm your body is in with periods. Happened with all 4 pregnancies, but I did lose one. Definitely an excuse to rest up for the day x

ItsMyLastOne · 13/07/2012 09:09

I found during the first trimester of both pregnancies that every time we had sex I had more bleeding. During this pregnancy I went to epu and all was fine. It's very, very common but do speak to a MW or GP if you're worried or it continues.

Imnotaslimjim · 13/07/2012 09:28

It could simply be that being pg is making your cervix more sensitive, and its very normal

But, just to be sure I would contact your GP or MW and discuss it with them and see if they want to do anything about it

totallyheadfunked · 13/07/2012 11:11

Thanks for the reassurance.

I've been to see the GP and she said it was very normal and usual to have this sort of bleeding in early pregnancy. She said there was probably nothing to worry about but she's sent me for a scan this afternoon just to check everything's okay.

The cramps have settled down slightly. Oddly they got better once I was able to eat and drink something. Am still getting the odd twinge but they're not as bad as they were this morning.

Am feeling a little bit less panicky about everything but I'll feel much better once I've had the scan and they've told me everything's okay.

Keeping all my fingers and toes crossed!

I'll be keeping everything crossed for u. For what it's worth I bled almost constantly when pregnant and ds is now 4 . X

totallyheadfunked · 13/07/2012 11:38

Mama1980 HOW did you not lose your mind? I'm freaking out over here.

I only found out I was pregnant on tuesday and it was a complete surprise. I think I'm still in shock.

OP posts:
Mama1980 · 13/07/2012 11:58

I think I probably did lose my mind a bit at times Blush it was terrifying. The only thing that helped me was distraction (I was on sick leave from 8 weeks) not I need to do the washing up distraction but books I could become engrossed in, box sets etc. im sorry I have no better advice but I am here for hand holding if u need it and am keeping everything crossed for you. When is your scan?

NoComet · 13/07/2012 12:06

Fingers crossed for you, both my lovely DDs decided to scare Mummy at 8 weeks.

It is not nice!

totallyheadfunked · 13/07/2012 12:18

Scan's at 2.45pm today.

Waiting to see if my best friend can come with me. DP works an hour's commute out of London and it would be difficult for him to get out of work this afternoon. Besides I don't want him to tell his boss I'm pregnant yet.

Thanks for the kind words. Cramps have almost completely stopped and just went to the loo and there was no sign of any blood at all. Got my feet up, drinking camomile tea and reading gossip websites :)

Good luck with the scan. I bled at 6 weeks pregnant and the 'blob' is now 4 months old! It's called implantation bleeding. Congratulations!

Mama1980 · 13/07/2012 12:23

Smile gossip websites always the way to go lol! I hope your friend can come with you.

applecrumple · 13/07/2012 14:04

Good luck with the scan, but bleeding after sex is v common - it happened to me 3 times & scared the crap out of me. I'm now 27 weeks x

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 13/07/2012 14:07

Good luck with the scan! I also had some spotting around 7/8 weeks and turned out to be nothing.

ItsMyLastOne · 13/07/2012 22:00

How did the scan go?

I also had loads of bleeding in both pregnancies like Mama1980, but luckily only till 14/15 weeks first time and about 11 weeks this time. First time round it was ridiculously heavy bleeding and it's amazing a foetus could survive through it, but it did and she's now 22 months.

I hope you've had good news.

woody17 · 14/07/2012 08:39

Totallyheadfunked - I hope that your scan goes ok. This is my first pg but I have also had spotting after sex and brown discharge. Had my second scan at EPU yesterday and saw the heartbeat (first one was too early). They told me that spotting after sex and brown discharge are really common although it hasn't stopped me worrying. Hope you are ok.

Mama1980 · 14/07/2012 09:17

How did it go? Hope u are ok xxx

totallyheadfunked · 14/07/2012 11:14

Sorry for not updating sooner. Scan showed all was fine. Phew! I saw the t

That's really good to hear. Glad you had good news.

FWIW, it is probably worth avoiding sex until you've safely passed the 12 week point, just for peace of mind. I am on my 5th pregnancy (2 DCs, 2 miscarriages) and always instigate a sex ban for the whole of the first trimester. Partly for fear of triggering a bleed and partly, to be fair, because I feel too dreadful!

totallyheadfunked · 14/07/2012 11:21

Oops, fat fingers hit post too soon.

I meant to say I saw the tiniest blob on screen with a tiny heartbeat. It looked like a pulsing star in a big black galaxy. I took a pic of the screen with my phone cos they said it was too early to give me a printed copy. You can hardly see anything but I know where it is!

They said period pains and spotting was perfectly normal. Which somewhat put my mind at rest. But this morning I had brownish jelly like discharge about the size of a 50p. There was a bit of mucus as well (sorry for tmi). But since then I've had no more bleeding and the period pain has subsided.

Again sorry for tmi but I'm wondering whether the discharge this morning was just old blood mixed with ejaculate from sex yesterday morning? That's gross I know. Sorry.

I've rung the hospital and am waiting for a doc to call me back and see if I need to go back in. I don't know how much more of this anxiety I can take. I just want to fast forward to 12 weeks.

Good idea dietcoke. We've had quite a lot of sex this week. Maybe my cervix has taken a bit of a battering.

OP posts:
ivanapoo · 14/07/2012 13:30

I had mucus too at about 8 weeks. I think it might be something to do with the plug forming. All fairly normal I think :)
