what does 10 weeks pregnant feel like?!

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and i'm not sure what it's meant to feel like. Had awful nausea but am managing as best i can with eating little and often, and am getting better and knowing what to eat. Also on the sofa at every opportunity! For the last couple of days i've had some twinges, not pain as such, more uncomfortable. Of course things will hopefully be growing and stretching but does this sound normal? Is there anything else that's common in the first trimester?!

It varies a lot :) but nausea, maybe vomitting, bone-crushing tiredness are all normal. Sometimes lack of appetite, sometimes ravenous hunger. Twinges (period-type cramps, sharp pains, and odd tugging sensations) are all normal too.

I also found myself snapping at poor DD a lot. Hormones can make you ratty, or tearful, or angry at everything.

Oh, and peeing all the time, dreadful wind and bloating, constipation. Fun times Grin

Sleeeeeeepy zzzzzzzzzz

Greypuddle · 12/07/2012 20:27

Twiiiingy, Weeeeeepy and Puuuukey, to add to 121's Sleeeeepy. I find it much calmer in the second trimester.

hugahuddy · 12/07/2012 20:32

so twinges can be normal, that's a relief!! i have been so tired and have felt completely wiped of all personality! can't be bothered doing anything, even eating. poor DH gets nothing if he's lucky, if he's unlucky he gets snappy!! I keep thinking i'm not good at being pregnant, at that makes me upset, hope that there is some relief in the second trimester and even some fun times?!!

I agree I am 10 weeks and getting all the above symptons so very very tired, andnauseua, but to be honest sometimes I do wonder if I am actually pregnant, I am tempted to take another test, until I have my scan at 13 weeks (due to my partners work) I wonder am I mad I know I am but sometimes I just feel ill and fat.

LauraPalmer · 14/07/2012 06:23

Exhausted, iIll and fat...yup, that sounds like a good description of what I'm feeling and I'm just about 10 wks. Grin

Roll on 2nd trimester...

BadgerFace · 14/07/2012 10:50

Sneezing and bunged upness from me so far from week 6 to week 13 and counting. And apparently rhinitis can last all pregnancy - aaaaaaaargh! It's driving me nuts!

noblegiraffe · 14/07/2012 11:09

I'm nearly 11 weeks pregnant and barely fit into my trousers any more so uncomfortable all the time. Want to get into maternity gear but not until after I've had a scan as it feels wrong. Can't wait to have the scan and be able to tell everyone so that I can get sympathy for feeling rough at work!

Have been sleeping most evenings when I get in from work and having to get up at least once in the night for a wee.

Last night was good because dinner actually stayed in my stomach, unlike the rest of the week. Unfortunately the rest of the week was healthy dinners and last night was Dominos.

LauraPalmer · 14/07/2012 12:29

I'm getting the bunged upness, too! For some reason it's particularly irritating. Perhaps because it doesn't seem like it should be a pregnancy symptom?

I went ahead and bought a few maternity things. I'm on progesterone so I've got extra bloat and none of my size 10 trousers fit at the waist anymore. But I've already had 2 good scans, so I understand wanting to wait until you actually see the bambino.

For what it's worth, when you are ready to start buying, eBay has been amazing for really lovely, good quality maternity clothes at a fantastic price. I wouldn't have thought about going that route but decided to try it out after reading so many positive posts from other MNs who kitted themselves out that way.

To give an example of my success, I bought a pair of navy blue skinny mat jeans from Gap that were £45 (and they aren't cut well at the back waist so I'm forever pulling them up)...then I spent £44 on eBay (including s&), and got:
New Look dark skinny jeans, JojoMaman boyfriend jeans, Gap grey yoga trackies,
Gap black yoga trackies, Papaya white button down shirt with sharp pin-tucked pleating on the front, and a gorgeous Mamas & Papas grey wool shift dress. Everything is in like-new condition and arrived within 3 days. I bought my regular sizes they all fit. 6 lovely maternity pieces delivered to my door for only £44!

And oh my goodness, the first time you put on a pair of maternity trousers with a stretchy belly panel is amazing! Grin

LauraPalmer · 14/07/2012 12:30

including s&h*

Hey everyone, I'm 10 weeks too & as well as suffering almost all the symptoms mentioned (exhaustion, upset stomach, sickness, stuffy nose, can't stop weeing, insomnia, bloating, can't stop eating, oh and popping ears) however what I'm really concerned about just how depressed all of it is making me when I want to be happy about the baby? I just want to fast forward till I can go on maternity leave!

Anyone else feeling low? I'm working full time and really struggling to juggle all this feeling ill and tired with my job and trying to keep things going at home as well. Boyfriend is trying to be supportive but seems out of his depth. I feel completely useless & like I'm being a big baby bursting into tears at everything- like because I was too tired to clean out the hamster the other day, or because I've got stomach ache!

I also booked tickets months ago to take my 6 year old cousin to see Matilda the musical this Saturday & I'm babysitting her for the whole weekend as well- there's absolutely nothing I can do to get out of it but I'm stressing already as I don't know how I'm going to cope feeling like this.

Anyone else feeling similar or that can advise me if there is anything I can do to get my energy and spirits up!

LimeLeafLizard · 16/07/2012 14:23

I'm 10 weeks too and don't have many symptoms yet. Bloating in the evening, and more tired than usual, that's all.

Aimee sorry you're feeling low. I felt sad in all my previous pregnancies (this is DC4). Keep track of your feelings - maybe write a diary? If it gets really bad, ask for help. Antenatal depression is more common than people realise - and whilst you might never have it, it is worth being aware of in case the sad feelings continue.

noblegiraffe · 16/07/2012 15:47

I think it's only natural to feel crap and frustrated at feeling so rough all the time, and at not being able to do stuff. Crying is probably a result of this and complete hormone overload (sad films are a complete no go here). I think the best thing to do is just let it go and take care of yourself. Housework can wait.

From what I remember, the second semester is much better. You can tell people you're pregnant, you get a bump to advertise the fact, and so they are much nicer to you. Also, the placenta takes over a lot of the hard work looking after baby and you don't feel so awful. And you get to feel the baby kicking so you can start to bond. At the moment I know I'm pregnant but it's all related to feeling grim. Later I'll know I'm pregnant because there's a baby obviously in my tummy.

FlangelinaBallerina · 16/07/2012 16:11

It sounds to me like OP and Aimee are both totally normal and typical 10 week pregnant women. It isn't fun, at all. But remember, this too shall pass.

WillowTheWitch · 16/07/2012 16:13

A very bad hangover .

hugahuddy · 16/07/2012 20:15

i was thinking today this pregnancy is mocking me, 3 months of no alcohol and feel like i've had a constant hangover for over a month!!

My husband is being great but i think he might be getting bored of me on the sofa watching tele or snoozing and no bump to show for all my hard work, i feel like my personality has flat lined, can't be bothered doing or chatting about anything. can't wait for nausea to end and fun times to start!

Aimee i'd suggest you ask for help with the babysitting commitment if possible.

tired all the time, and keep having to remind myself that that's okay cause I'm pregnant! have to remember to slow down and stop rushing everywhere like I used too, some days constant nausea but learning how to manage that now, mainly in the evenings so at least I can just go to bed!

generally a whole bunch of fun!

anyone else getting mad at clutter and mess? or is it just me being crazy, i feel like i want to throw everything out!

Pinkie29 · 16/07/2012 23:12

imogen all sounds good to me! I'm 10 weeks too and feel the same! Tired all the time, constant nausea which is worse when I don't eat but don't feel like eating at all, sore heavy boobs and on an off cramping, I don't worry about the cramping mw said its totally normal especially with the first as your womb is stretching and growing like that for the first time, plus the baby is very active at this stage doing somersaults and all-sorts!

amylou28 I feel a bit down too Sad dp is so excited but I find it hard as I feel so rubbish! Just try and stay positive and remember we'll feel much better in the 2nd trimester Smile

Springforward · 16/07/2012 23:21

Sick and tired!

LimeLeafLizard · 17/07/2012 09:25

Grin about the hangover! So true - that is exactly how I felt this morning.

shouldIbecrossaboutthis · 17/07/2012 17:12

at 10 weeks my pregnancy felt like the cool tiles on my bathroom floor as that is where I spent most of my time chained to the loo! If I wasn't there I was lying in bed. Sounds normal to me Grin
