peeing in pots , any tips?

This can't just be me, can it?!! Every time I go to the midwife I have to give a urine sample, I always end up peeing on my hand, missing the pot with most of my stream, only getting a tiny trickle into the pot. any tips?! be as explicit with instructions as you like!

Lol towards the end it's so hard hey. I used to pee in a plastic bowl and transfer it to the teeny pots

I wish I read this thread months ago... never thought of peeing into something else and transferring and now it seems so simple. In the hospital, they give you a little tub to pee into, makes much more sense. One time, I took to doing it in the shower... it was soooooooooooooooo much easier lol.

Hi again, I had to go to A&E the other day after my car crash. I asked to go to the bathroom as these days I only have to see one to need to go. They gave me a huge pot to use (like soup bowl size) and their loo had a little ledge to put the bowl on and catch the flow. So no wet pots or hands. (the only down side was they didn't collect for an hour and I had to sit there looking at it. Eugh.
Now, this is the same hosp as where I have maternity stuff done. Why can't they give out these bowls too??? Much more sensible

I wee into a plastic cup I take from the water dispenser at work then pour it carefully into the specimen thingy :) x

I was given a midstream urine test thingy at hospital which was just a normal pot and a funnel in a sealed packet. Kept the funnel and have used since, you could ask for one at next app. Before that, I used a cheap plastic jug and decanted.

I have to laugh, I'd forgotten about the challenge of getting pee in a tiny pot until my scan last week, I got pee all over my hand, over flowed the pot and got it down my leg!? My DP face said it all when I told him of my ordeal, lesson 1 - take a cup next time, lesson 2 - don't discuss getting pee all over your hands or anywhere else with your DP!
