No show = no labour?

Hi, don't think I'm in labour but am having lots of bachache that's coming and going/quite strong braxton hicks. However I haven't had a show yet, I did a couple of hours before I went into labour last time. Just for future reference, until I've had a show should I disregard any pains because it can't be labour? Or can you go into labour without having had a show?

A show is a good sign things are happening but you can definitely be in labour without having seen it.
Good luck

I went into labour without a show, I was fully dialated before It came, my waters didnt break either x

booksandchoc · 12/07/2012 11:14

I didn't have a show. My waters started leaking then contractions started about 6 hours later. It must be still in there Grin

Cheekychops84 · 12/07/2012 11:27

You well could be in labour time this contractions! I never had a show or waters breaking with both my previous births they started with back ache and they broke my waters in hosp xx

MyMelody · 12/07/2012 11:34

I've never had a show either time...
Good luck!

Another one with no show and no waters breaking with dc1. The whole ticklist covered with dc2 though!

mrsalwaysawake · 12/07/2012 11:45

Nope, no show here last time, and my waters didn't go until I was fully dilated.

ReallyTired · 12/07/2012 11:47

I had a show just before transition with both my children.

I love a birth thread. Good luck.

FrustratedMod · 12/07/2012 11:51

Thanks all, haha tired I don't reckon this is going to be a labour thread - I wish! Am just sending myself mental symptom spotting - its like ttc all over again! Timed the pains - there's no pattern at all so I reckon it's just wishful thinking!

I've had four babies, I went into spontanious labour with all of them and I've never had a show, it's always come away with my waters when they broke.

ArtyJennie · 12/07/2012 16:51

My show came after the mw tried to get me to pee when I was fully dialated (bladder was full so baby was stuck!)

seabuckthorn · 12/07/2012 19:25

I've never had a show with either of mine...well I'm pretty sure I didn't!

FrustratedMod · 12/07/2012 19:29

Thanks again, I've had a few rather more painful braxton hicks and backache and abdo pain but constant, not coming and going. Sigh. I guess this is pre-labour/aches and pains of being hugely pregnant.

Sweep tomorrow, maybe it will kick things off properly...

I have had 3 previous babies and no show or waters breaking with any of them until labour was well advanced!

Good luck Smile

justhayley · 13/07/2012 07:17

I didn't have a show, had a bit of backpain then my waters went, then 24 hours later contractions started - 4 hours after that I was holding my baby Grin

Cheekychops84 · 13/07/2012 07:57

Frustrated mob how far along you? Ive had bad back and period pains too but I'm 38 weeks still got a while yet ! Let me know how u get on ! X

FrustratedMod · 18/07/2012 01:40

Eeep. Please can I ask the opposite question now? I've just lost my mucus plug so - straw poll - is labour imminent? Everything I read says 'could be weeks', i bloody hope not!

The bit "could be" is the clue. My first dc came within 6 hours of the show..dc4 came within 3 hours. Are you getting regular pains now? If so you could be close..

FrustratedMod · 18/07/2012 02:08

I think I had a contraction just after, and now getting crampy pain but not really coming and going. Hmmm. Think I'd better try and sleep... Thanks fanjango!
