Contractions in bits?!

I keep getting the most awful stabbing up between my legs. Hubby points out it's coming in waves and wonders if it could be contractions. I'm pretty sure contractions happen not here but in bump, but then realised I actually don't really know whether that's true.

I do also have SPD and it does feel similar to a pain I've had on occasion from that before, but this coming in waves and completely taking my breath away is new.

Any ideas?

Sounds delightful whatever it isSad
How long does the pain last? Have you timed between the pains?
It sounds nervy but then if there is a bit of a regular ish pain which comes and goes, could be?

My contractions were in my thighs with DD1 all the way until pushing. I explained them as how I would imagine the feeling of being stabbed in my legs!!!

Midwife told me when I got into hospital that it sounded like early stages and wouldn't examine me for an hour, then found I was 6cm... Pushing 20 minutes later!!!

If it is contractions, hope all goes well.

How many weeks are you?

Antenatal teacher said contractions can be there/legs/back etc. and you will know as they're all consuming ie. stop you in tracks rather than just a niggle. As the others say, you need to time.

Good luck!!! Or if not, hope the pain just goes away :)

Thanks ladies. I'm 37 weeks and would definitely not be upset if it was contractions - want to meet my baby now!

They were definitely all consuming pains, really awful, but I've felt nothing since, so maybe it was just another SPD treat. :(

I had pains in my legs more...barely felt the contractions in my bump. In fact, I had stabbing pains in my thighs, pelvis and tailbone.

I'm 37+3and have been having the same shooting pains 'up there' which are different than the SPD pains I've felt which have been more on the pubic bone/ groin area. Mid wife says its nerve pain from where his head is engaging which makes sense as I tend to get the sharp stabbing pains when he's having a shufty about x x
