Breastfeeding after nipple piercing

Im a bit worried I really want to breast feed my baby however had my nipple pierced around 7 years ago i have had this out for about 5 years now. Will this cause problems when trying to breast feed? I know this sounds silly but could the milk flow out the piercing holes even though they should be healed up. This evening I have hard white stuff coming out of my nipple and also the holes... also a very very small amount of watery liquid coming out of both nipples.

I am 32+1 is it normal to have 'leaky boobs' already?

Also liquid seems to be coming out of other areas of nipple from where i would have imagined it would come out even on the nipple that was not pierced. is this normal??

I don't know anything about nipple piercings I'm afraid, but one thing I didn't know when I was pregnant with DC1 is where the milk comes out. I always assumed it came out some kind of central hole, but nope! It comes out all over the place, often from several places at once from anywhere on your actual nipple. When I was expressing I could see it shooting out in all directions!

And yep I would say it's perfectly normal to have leaky boobs at 32 weeks, a friend of mine started getting them from 16 weeks.

Does that help any?

There are ducts all over the nipple so the milk comes out in several places and yes you can have leaky boobs already. All sounds normal.

Wrt the nipple piercing some women keep the piercing in and still breastfeed, although the milk does apparently come through the holes.

I only had my nipple pierced about 6 months and removed it at 3 months pregnant as it was starting to get uncomfortable. I'm now 30 weeks and I fully expect the piercing has closed over a good bit since I didn't have it in for long. There's some hard white stuff that still comes out where the dents are each side but I assumed it was dead, clogged skin - like you would get in an ear piercing too if you didn't wear earrings for a while. I personally wouldn't worry about it interfering with bf in any way.

I had mine pierced for 4 years and took it out at 10 weeks pregnant with dd.

I fed all three kids with no problems, in fact two of them far prefered that nipple as the flow was less explosive than from my unpierced nipple! I fed for as total more than 6 years

I leaked from 20odd weeks and haven't fed in over 6 months and still have the white solid stuff coming from the piercing holes.

No problem, I had one redone twice, so there is 3 lots of scar tissue, including those that migrated. I was able to feed and pump with no issues at all. The milk comes out around the scar tissue just fine, but also from much further back on the nipple than you might expect, babies don't latch onto the nipple, they latch onto the breast.

I haven't had any problems. I had my piercing for 6 years and only took it out after I had given birth. (I thought I'd put the piercing back in inbetween breast feeds not realising how much I'd be feeding Blush) Dd is 9mos and still feeding her.

Aww thats great everyone! I just assused it would also come out a central point in the nipple also! I wasnt sure if the piercing would have damaged things and i would be unable to breastfeed but it looks promising at the moment! Thank you for you help!!
