I experience some spotting coming up to 4 weeks ago now. My period is due on Saturday and im waiting expectantly to hope it doesnt show. In the last 4 weeks i have experienced a bloated stomach, darkening of my nipples, cramp and fluttering feelings, metallic taste in my mouth, spotting, slight feelings of nausea. Im pretty sure im pregnant however i did a test on monday (yesterday) and it was negative. Whens the best time to one as my period is due on Saturday?

Depends which brand you're using but I tend to not test any earlier than 3 days before due date. And obviously use first wee if you do test early.

Stitch230204 · 10/07/2012 20:30

i normally use a cheap asda or tesco one would clearblue be better?

I don't know how accurate the cheap ones are. I know first response claim to be accurate 6 days before but the percentage is actually quite low. Clearblue are accurate about 80% of the time 3 days before if I remember rightly, although this time round I was a week late before I got a bfp. The best time is to test after you're due but I know how hard it is to wait!

Stitch230204 · 10/07/2012 20:34

its killing me to wait esp with all the signs i am getting! I have a cheap one if that doesnt show i will have to be patient and wait!

I've never used the expensive ones. You can get cheap ones on eBay that are sensitive, then you can use loads!

Stitch230204 · 10/07/2012 20:38

oh my goodness dont tell me that i will be forever testing! Thank you :)

Then when you get a positive you can keep going until you believe it which I have never done, honest

Stitch230204 · 10/07/2012 20:41

lol do you know i have done that before! With my son i didnt believe it! :-p

I'd have got through hundreds of tests with first pregnancy if husband had allowed it!
Think I took about 4 before he said we couldn't afford any more.

Fatted · 10/07/2012 22:35

I had my bfp from a cheap one off Amazon. I would really recommend them, only paid about two quid for 15. I did invest in a clear blue digtal after doing six of the cheap ones to work out far along I was.

Hi

I am very tensed as today i need to get my periods. Pregnancy test was negative yesterday and today morning as well.

What are the chances of becoming pregnent atleast this month? If the pregnancy test is negative on the day of periods??

lollypophead · 11/07/2012 11:22

I have finally come round to the idea of having a baby in my late 30s and now I can't think of anything else. You wouldn't believe the number of pregnancy tests I go through each month. I think I just need to calm down, but its so hard when all you want is to be pregnant!

BadgerFace · 11/07/2012 13:13

Some people won't test positive until after the day their period is due - my best friend's first was about 3 days afterwards so there is hope yet...

Good luck!

DollyA · 11/07/2012 15:45

Still a little hope as said.....But its killing me of the tension. I am due today and took 2 tests and its negative. But i get all the symptoms which i used to feel normally before i get my periods. So most likely i am about to get my periods:(
Fingers crossed

Hi

I tested 1 week before my period was due with Asda own brands and nothing. Tested 4 days before with First Response and I'm pregnant! They are more expensive but maybe it's worth trying them!

MrsHelsBels74 · 11/07/2012 17:48

This time round I was a week late before I got a positive test. Had been testing like a maniac beforehand & kept getting negatives but I just knew they were wrong!

abcde1 · 11/07/2012 18:16

Did you mean to put 'four weeks' in your first post? In that you only had spotting four weeks ago? Is that your normal period - just spotting? That doesn't sound right to me...

Stitch230204 · 12/07/2012 20:06

I had my period and then 3-4 days later i had what i recall to be spotting. It was a disgusting brown color and it was only the once. I know it wasnt my period as thats a completely different color. Also i have had a awful amount of discharge. Really horrible. So i guess the the spotting would of been 3 weeks ago my apoliges for in inaccuarcy!

I used the Clearblue digital ones - was reluctant to test early though due to irregular periods. I was thrilled when it came back as positive :)

Stitch230204 · 12/07/2012 21:01

Ive got an asda one im going to use and go from there. From the signs i am getting im pretty sure im pregnant :)

My advice is better to wait till ur due for periods and if missed try out on the first day of missed periods. As i have wasted lots of money on these strips testing before periods
