'Period Pain' in early pregnancy - should I worry?

Hi Everyone,

This is my first ever post on Mumsnet as I found out this week that I am pregnant! Bit scary as it is my first and have only been trying for 6 weeks...so very very early days (Clear Blue said 1-2 weeks since conception). I have been having period type pain in my left lower tummy/uterus area. It is mostly a constant dull pain and I havent had any bleeding. Is this a bad sign that my pregnancy is not going to continue?

Any advice would be great to stop me worrying Wink !!

I had that right up until the morning sickness kicked in properly at 8-9 weeks!

Said pregnancy is currently 10 months old and snoring gently in her cot.

I had regular period pains with both mine. With my second, I had pains every four weeks for months.

Congratulations and hope all goes well. Smile

Nope. Not necessarily a bad sign at all: in fact it could be a good one.

Could still be implantation. Could be cramps as everything is 'settling down' and getting ready for the next 36 weeks. Period type cramps are very very common. Very scary, but common. As long as there's no bleeding, I wouldn't worry.

Oh and congratulations!!

Congratulations! Probably nothing out of the ordinary, but worth keeping an eye on. Have you got a doc/midwife appt yet?

I had this with both of mine. Stretching of all those muscles getting ready. I'm sure it's fine. Congratulations! :)

Thanks for all the fast and reassuring responses!! I think I am trying not to get too excited or my hopes up as it is so early! I have got a doctors appointment in 2 weeks time (soonest I could get out of work hours). Do you think that is soon enough?
