Hi

Am currently 8w2d pregnant with 3rd child. Had scan at 6w1d and couldn't find heartbeat. Had second scan this morning and baby measuring 6w with very slow heartbeat. Am feeling really anxious, have to do blood tests every two days to observe hgc levels. Has this happened to anyone else?

Would really appreciate anything from anyone in a similar situation or with experience.....

Fingers crossed for you. How slow do you mean? Dds was towards the lower end of normal and I was very worried too.

She didn't give me a number, she just said that it was very slow, she was sorry and if I had any bleeding before my next appointment then I should call her. Am in the waiting room now, not sure if they will do another scan or just bloods... :(

Nothing, she was fine - by the time I had 12 week scan it was fine.

So sorry you are having such a worrying time. By 8 weeks the HB should have picked up but it is very borderline at this stage so if your dates are out it would still be possible to have a positive outcome. The American pregnancy association has really good info on fetal development which I always trust. Tells you exactly what should be happening. If you are just a little out things can pick up. Good luck, unfortunately nobody and no amount of dr google can tell you what you want to know . Just try to keep yourself occupied (easier said than done I know) and take care of yourself.

Thanks for your support ladies! Scan showed abnormalities and no heartbeat so it's game over for the moment. Will give myself a little break before ttc again (quite fancy falling into a bath full of wine to drown my sorrows after d&c!) x

Very sorry.

So sorry joburg. I've had the same experience. I was told this is often due to chromosomal abnormalities. Doesn't make it any easier I know. Wine and bath are indeed the best medicines. And a good cry. Take care.
