Hi I'm a first time Mum, I finally made it to my due date! Grin

Baby is moving around a fair bit in it's normal manner. I have engagement pains/twinges, but no other signs...

Have a mw appointment booked for today. Was wondering if I should ask her to examine my cervix to see if it's thinning etc - or should she do that any way as a matter of course?

Also can they measure if baby still has enough amniotic fluid left?

Would she give me a sweep today if i asked? Should I ask?

Or should I just sit tight for another week or so?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My experience is that they are very reluctant to examine you unless absolutely necessary. Probably to reduce risk of infection. I'd had contractions for 4 days before my 40 week appointment and practically demanded they examine me. They refused, I went home and my waters promptly broke. DS born at 40+1

They'll probably do a sweep at your 41week appointment but heres hoping you don't need it!

The midwife examined me but my cervix hasn't softened at all so sweep was not possible. Looks like I'm in for a bit of a wait for now!

Just think - max two weeks to go. I would suggest:

Daytime nap
Watch a movie from start to finish
Drink a brew while its still hot.

Dd is 6mo and I miss being able to do these three things!
