Trouble booking a scan

I am between 9 and 11 weeks. On 4 May I had an unusually light period (2ish days and light to regular tampons only. Previously 5-6 days and using the super plus); at the time I was delighted Smile . When I had my coil removed after BFP the gynaecologist said that might be an implantation bleed and I might be a couple of weeks on. In retrospect this would explain some early symptoms in mid-May.

First midwife appt last friday. Tried to book scan today and offered on 31 Jul which is fine if I'm 9+3 but not if I'm 11+3 because would miss slot for nuchal screening (would be 14+4). My pleas fell on deaf ears. The form said 4.5.12 and they were going on that. Have left message with midwife. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you manage to get an earlier scan?

I had my scan one day too late for nuchal measurements but it's fine, they can do a quadruple blood test instead. I wouldn't worry.

Even if you got a scan on time as such, it doesn't mean they can do the nuchal screening. I had my scan this time at 12+2 and the mw spent half an hour trying to get a measurement but couldn't because the baby kept moving and was in the wrong position etc. so I just had the blood tests at 15+2.
Last time my dates were way out so I was 16+3 on my first scan and had blood tests that day.

Is there a reason you're so worried about it? Has a family member got Downs' Syndrome? Or do you have other risk factors?

I might just be am being a paranoid first timer. I have no particular worries except being over 30 (33). Feel reassured that there are other ways so thanks both for replies. I do think I need to remain proactive which is tricky because don't want work to know until after scan but work at the hospital where it will take place!

It doesn't sound like you have any reason to worry so try to relax about it. I know, I know, easier said than done! I'm sure you and the baby will be fine.
