So this week's glamorous pregnancy symptom seems to be....growing a beard! Yay!

i have noticed a hella load of downy hair appearing on the sides of my face and neck/throat. It is blonde thank fuck so there's no point in bleaching it, but it is getting pretty thick and noticeable. Anyone else noticed becoming more hirsute in the facial region in their second trimester? I am 19 weeks today.

Should I try and remove it, get it threaded or waxed? Or will it grow back all stubbly and dark?

And will it go away after the baby is born?

DH keeps looking at it when he's talking to me, which is obviously helping loads...!

Leave it, it goes away when you have had baby,

just try not to back light yourself.

Yup, those lovely pregnancy hormones seem to like making us even more hairy.....my belly is the worst at the moment (I've always been on the hairy face side unfortunately) If it's new, pregnancy induced growth, and it's blonde, just leave it. We won't be having any more sunshine this summer anyway for you to worry about it being seen!

I would gladly forgo the thick glossy hair to not have this. Just don't do what I did and try and take off the worst of the side burns with facial hair remover cream. I ended up with weird hair free stripes on my face, and then the dilemma of whether to even it out by doing my whole face, which I chose not to... Honestly, if you're blonde people really can't see! (or my friends are just super polite).

Yes! I don't even have hair on my arms and I developed this downy, blonde fuzz on the side of my neck below the ear area!

I stupidly pointed it out to OH who now makes jokes about it.

But I have also since learnt that Marilyn Monroe used to take male hormones to acheive this look because it made her 'glow' on film and in photographs! Apparently at one point some director insisted she got rid of her bid and she point blank refused...

I now have whiskers, I have to pluck every night! I catch myslef in the office stroking my chin feeling for the bloody things.

Ooh, me too who!

I had those before pregnancy though. I've basically given up; I get my whole face threaded Grin

Me too! but to be honest, I quite literally cant be arsed to do a thing about it. DP has seen me looking much worse and will do in the coming weeks so I'm sure he can cope with a few hairys on my mug :) Love the info on Marilyn btw Naisy I also have an extremely hairy tummy too!

Passmethecrisps · 09/07/2012 19:12

I'm another fuzzy. I notices my neck today actually but had known my stomach, face and arms are hairier. Strangely, my legs are less hairy. Either that or the hair is much softer.

Smicha · 09/07/2012 19:29

Ha, I was just admiring mine in the mirror before I read this! I reckon I could plait my beard if I tried! And the way it joins my neck hair is just lovely!! Fortunately it is blond so I plan to leave it as I have a feeling the results of a wax wouldn't be pretty.

Tummy is soooooo hairy too but like Pass, my leg hair takes weeks to get stubbly, which is one positive thing!

AKMD · 09/07/2012 20:28

I don't have a hairy face but my tummy looks like a CK model but fat. It happened with DC1 as well, at which point DH took to calling me 'The Wereworlf' Hmm

GrandPoohBah · 09/07/2012 21:12

I sit on the sofa plucking mine; the bump means they're easier to get to.

I bet DH thanks his lucky stars that he met me every day Grin
