Newborn jaundice

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place as it's a newborn query not a pregnancy one, sorry if I've got it wrong.

My 8 day old baby was admitted for 12 hours' phototherapy this week. Tests gave his results as 360/ Direct 13. The 360 is now down to around 200 but the Direct won't be retested yet. I have been told that it's the Direct result that can reveal a more serious problem than breastfeeding jaundice and that this will be retested in about a week.

Does anyone know what the Direct score (13) means or what it should go down to on retesting, and what happens if it doesn't or what it means if it doesn't go down?

I have been told not to worry and I know that jaundice, even more severe jaundice, is really common - but I would like to understand more about the scores etc if anyone knows?

Thanks
