Hi,

I've been having a nose around the site - in the "due in November" thread and noticed someone say they can 'now' eat fish paste.

I'm worried now, so I googled it - it says you can eat the "safe" fish in pastes, anyone know what these are?

I've been eating a slice of toast every morning with sardine and tomato paste since about 12 weeks (I'm now 21 weeks), is this safe?? If not, what have I done!?!

Am sure it is safe. Don't worry.

Well I am coming up to 18 weeks and have an addiction to princes sardine and tomato paste on toast so I hope so ! To be fair I would of thought that it is actually good for you ! The ones in jars have been cooked to high temp for long life in the jar, just make sure that once open you eat it within the 3 days it recommends.

I expect its the whole tuna/marlin/shark thing - you have to limit the amounts of the big fish due to mercury build up in the flesh. Sardines are 'safe' I believe.

It was me! What I meant was that I wasn't sure if I could have it and I found out I could. Not I hadn't been able to have it and now I can , IYSWIM.

I am loving a fish paste sandwich.

Thanks everyone!

Sophiathesnowfairy, thanks for clarifying - I think all I read on your post was the "I can have it now" and it made me panic so instead of reading the rest I googled it! When it didn't list sardine as a 'safe' fish to have as a paste, I panicked even more!

I've always loved sardine and tomato paste (much to other people's disgust) so it's nice to see that 1. I can eat it while pregnant and 2. I'm not alone in my fish paste loving!!
