Strange discharge at 38 weeks pregnant - obv TMI

I'm 38 weeks, having lots of backache and baby engaging but also have just noticed my normal creamy discharge has gone browny-orangey (sorry TMI), but still creamy.

I had a show at the end of my last pregnancy but that was far more like EWCM tinged with blood - not creamy at all. So what could this be?

Could be the mucous plug starting to come away most likely. Make sure u don't have infection but if u feel ok and no temp, prob fine! Mucous plug can come away w/o labour being too imminent. But if your waters break...phone h hospital!

Ta tazmo. Can that be the case even if it's just the normal creamy stuff but a bit blood tinged? I was just expecting the snotty stringy stuff if it was the mucus plug like last time

Anyone? Just not sure whether I should be worried about this or not?

hi frustrated, yes, it could be absolutely fine and shows can be all kinds of different consistency. anything brown is often old blood so it could be a teeny show mixed with your normal discharge, or if you've had sex in the last couple of days a bit of blood from the cervix. if baby is moving well and you're otherwise feeling ok, I wouldn't be worried. If you're not sure (and obv I'm not looking at it so can't be sure) then ring your labour ward or birth centre, they can always advise.

Hiya what, thanks. Baby is still moving around like a crazy thing and I feel fine apart from what I think are pre-labour signs of backache and lots of braxton hicks. Hopefully things will kick off soon as I'm def ready to not be pregnant any more!
