Baby seems to be all in my lower abdomen...

I'm not sure whether this is a weird thing to be concerned about but I am.

I'm 23 weeks (nearly 24) and the baby is in my lower abdomen. Should she have moved up by now? I have a definite bump, but this is the area below my belly button.

I haven't had anyone measure me or anything yet as I don't have another midwife appointment for a while. There were no problems (apart from low lying placenta at 20 week scan).

I'm just worried that she's being restricted in some way as I've read your fundus should be above your navel by now, and mine isn't.

I keep seeing proper pregnant women and being really jealous!

I'm 5' 8", not sure if that effects anything?

It is probably a combination of your build and the way the baby is lying. Dont worry! :)

Mine was REALLY low until 25 or so weeks, it freaked me out. I could pretty much feel her grinding against the bottom of my pelvis, very disconcerting feeling.

I have hypermobility syndrome, which means my ligaments are v. lax, which probably contributes... and fwiw many many women have undiagnosed hypermobility, which in any case is exacerbated by pregnancy hormones.

As long as your cervix is closed, you're golden :)

As far as I know babies take up the room they need, she might not need that much room if you're a bit taller. Although saying that I'm 5'2'' and I don't think mine was anywhere near my belly button at 23 weeks. I wouldn't worry x

I'm 33 weeks and my baby has lived down there. She has her bum down there and all kicks are in my knicker line felt nothing at all any higher. Hoping she turns round before she comes out :)

Same as signet, 33 weeks and baby kicks all low down or to the side, never had anything above belly button so not yet experienced the rib kicking people talk about. I'm 5'8 and a healthy size 12 pre pregnancy so not skinny by any stretch and people can't believe I'm 33 weeks (think I look a lot smaller), i have a long torso. Just how you carry I guess.

Where is your bump lois? Does it still look in the middle or does the bump look as if it's below the belly button?

Bump is kinda round now, starting under my boobs where my stomach is all squashed up and then going further out when it reaches my belly button. Not sure that helps!

Earlier i remember it was much lower and felt like I had a lead weight down there - is that how it feels for you?

Sastra · 04/07/2012 22:01

Well it starts at my belly button and stops at my bikini line. I'm worried that it should be higher than this Sad

Some people have 'bullet' bumps that just keep growing out and out. Do you not have an appt at 24 wks? If not, just phone up for one? As long as movement is ok and the bump is getting bigger it sounds

Sastra · 04/07/2012 22:29

Yeah, I have one at 25 weeks. My midwife is incredibly unpleasant though, so I don't expect my concerns to be heard.

It's def getting bigger and lots of movements. I think I need to meet people who're at a similar stage pregnancy!

My bump was really low like you describe until the last 4 weeks and Im 33 weeks now.

If you are not happy with your midwife change her, you just phone up and request a different one.

I didnt feel any real kicks til I was 20 weeks, and then I was not certain. I can not see my bump move or feel kicks on the outside even now at 33 weeks.

All movement I feel is on the left hand side of my body, in the line where bump meets my groin (like top knicker line)

Its probably nothing to worry about but if you are concerned speak to a midwife. Also do a search here on MN I have searched a few times for thnigs and you can bet your last pound someone will have posted before about it even if it where years ago.
