I feel your pain. I was so so so nauseous with DS1 I actually wanted to die. Now preg again, about same gestation as u, and DS is 18mo. I've been to GP and got some anti-emetics.
Would u consider it?
It's just so miserable

SpringFlowers · 04/07/2012 17:06

Oh know exactly what you feel like. I'm 11+4 now and since 9 weeks I have been so nauseas I have been unable to move on occasion. Nothing has helped me although it's worse if I don't eat regularly (even though I don't feel like eating and find food repulsive). This is my third week off work and I won't be going back next week either. Stress and tiredness definatly didn't help at all. The only glimmer of hope is that it will pass. For the first time this week there have been times when I thought it might be ok one day. You have my sympathies.

Get some travel sickness bands. They work wonders x

Elsqueak · 04/07/2012 17:43

It's awful, isn't it. I tried a few things: travel bands, fizzy drinks, mints, boiled sweets, acupressure, water biscuits. Definitely worse when hungry. The only thing that worked was a combo of travel bands and lucozade, although switched to fizzy water to reduce sugar & caffeine intake. Hope it gets better for you soon.

Pinkie29 · 04/07/2012 19:34

I'm 8+3 and feel your pain Sad I've no idea how people manage when they already have kids I'm ready for bed as soon as work finishes and just feel sick all the time.

I had 4 days of sickness over the weekend I found out I was pregnant then it went away. I felt all smug thinking "Ha was that it?" But since just over a week ago (6 weeks) I've felt horrendous! Smugness comes before the sickness! Looking on line it looks like I might have to put up with it for another 10 weeks?? How do people carry on working? I've had to take 4 days off work this week and I just don't know how I'm going to drag myself in next week if I feel like this. What have others done? There's massive changes going on at work and I'm up for a promotion so telling them I'm pregnant is absolutely not an option :-(

My sickness passed by 12 weeks, as the placenta takes over and hcg levels drop.

Fresh lemon/lime juice with cold water worked wonders for me. Also heard a new one the other day - mango juice. Its a natural anti-emetic, used a lot in India. Might be worth a try.

Hope you feel better soon.

spandau1980 · 05/07/2012 08:13

I dunno about wk.luckily im not working... i wouldn't have had another pregnancy if i were as i know how ill i get! Done that twice before... and i dunno how i kept it a secret as i threw up all day!
Sadly i won't be sick free at 12 weeks i was 16 weeks with my twin pregnancy and my single pregnancy so i know i have ages to go
tried lemon in water was great til i threw up and the acid pain burnt my throat so bad i was up all night with it... really annoyed as it s the only drink i want to drink!
Boo!

Ive got Buccastem. Dissolves in your mouth, been quite effective. Also tried cyclizine before with no effect. There are lots of anti-emetics that work in different ways so keep asking GP.

dontcarehow · 05/07/2012 08:51

I'm so going to give mango juice a go, I had a reel craving for mangoes last night, that must be why!

mrsdaisaku · 05/07/2012 09:18

Hi spandau I feel your pain, I've been hospitalised twice due to sickness and tried all types to keep the sickness at bay, the sea bands, ginger (which gave me heart burn and made the sickness worse), crackers, lemons etc etc. I've also tried lots of anti emetics, cyclizine, metaclopramide, stemetil etc and only on my second stay in hospital did they prescribe Ondansetron which has worked wonders for me. I'm back at work at 14 weeks and still on the tablets.

Take a look at the hyperemesis thread on here, the ladies on there are amazing. And the information at the beginning will give you a good indication if you have hyperemesis. The first thing they would recommend is to get some kesosticks from your local chemist, this shows starvation/dehydration levels, if its over three plus you should be admitted into hospital (your local gynea ward). The problem with hyperemesis is that once you get to a certain point none of the usual remedies work and nothing with stay down. Good luck...

thank you for the sanity! i'm 10 weeks and struggling. have really struggled at work and owe many hours but can't manage a whole day, the sofa calls too loudly! Eating little and often. ready salted crisps, rennie's, water, ryvita & philadelphia, cordial and soda water and ice pops good. Also tired, snoozing and night and loo trip or two in the night disruptive! I really feel for people with nappies to change, think i'd be gagging twice as often as tiolet smells are grossing me out!!
