Today's glamorous pregnancy symptom: swollen labia

TMI alert:

I had a bikini wax two weeks ago and my outer labia have been quite swollen ever since. I've been googling and it seems that swollen labia may result from vulval varicose veins which is a possibility as I have varicose veins in my legs and the accompanying symptoms sound very similar to mine i.e. heavy, bruised feeling in fanjo with lumpy swelling on left side which is exacerbated when I have difficulty passing stools (sorry, I did warn about TMI!) or have sex. I've given up the latter as it's too alarming as I blow up like a balloon.

I think it happened at the same time as the waxing by coincidence as an infection would have either gotten worse or better by now so I think it probably is vulval varicose veins. My research tells me that 10% of women get these in the fifth month of their second and subsequent pregnancies so I find it strange that I'd never heard of it before. Anyone else suffering from luscious labial lips?

Hi I did post antibiotics and it was thrush. Itchy? If so, the can give u a canes ten pessary.

Yep, I've had this since about 25 weeks, this is my first pregnancy though, I hadn't heard of it either and went to the doctor who told me it was 'a normal pregnancy thing'. Also had varicose veins on my legs appear at about the same time. Very glam! Just consoling myself with the thought that they should go soon (am 39 weeks), certainly hope they disappear after birth!
