Is your bump too small...?

I've been off work for over a month, i'm nearly 14weeks and expecting twins and am still as flat stomached as i've always been. It was my first day back today, but it was obvious that some of my colleagues were dubious that i'm even pregnant, let alone with twins. I reassured them that i've had several scans and can indeed confirm there were two little ones wriggling around there....

I find the reaction amusing, but if it continues it could become a little annoying. Anyone else experienced/ing similar??

Yes. I'm 24 weeks but just look a bit tubby. Only one baby though!

DS was a tiny little thing and I had a very neat bump. The 'But you're so small; is everything ok?" comments got rather wearying after a while, especially as everything was not ok and I didn't like talking to all and sundry about my medical notes.

You'll make up for it very soon. Enjoy your mobility!!

Ds1 didn't show til I was six months + then I just popped out a bit. Was so small I was convinced he'd be a 5lb er and bought small baby clothes. He was 7 lb13 and had to take everything back for exchange. (kept most tags on and receipts)

Ds2 showed about five months.

Ds3 I'm huge. Only 22 weeks and have a very obvious bump. My stomach muscles have been blown to pieces by now! Ds2 born last July.

Congrats on your pg. wishing you healthy twins. Envy I am Wink

hey i'm also pregnant with twins, 25 weeks now. I wasn't showing at all at 14 weeks so don't worry!

i've got a reasonably sized bump now but everyone keeps telling me that they think my bump is small for twins! i think they expect me to be the size of a house!!!

had a scan yesterday and both babies normal size!

congrats on your twins!! v exciting (and scary!!), isn't it!!!

AMKD I understand what you mean about everyone asking questions about your medical history, for some reason 'pregnancy' seems to be a free for all for asking questions that would otherwise be deemed inappropriate. Hope Baby 2 is fit and well and DS thriving :)

BoysandMe I have a DD8, and I didn't show till 5/6 months and she was a nice 6'13 when born, I actually had to go out and get some small baby bits for her. They do say each baby gets bigger, I wish you luck with No3 :) Have you got a predicted weight?

Nancy You are the first person I've spoken to who is also expecting twins, CONGRATULATIONS!! My babies are apparently a little small, but people don't need to know that. There definitely seems to be a stigma with people thinking you should be the size of a house with twins, but each one is different. I hope I am still relatively small at 24 weeks like you. How are you coping with the excitement versus the scared?

With my first pregnancy, nobody noticed I was pregnant until 6/7 months. I constantly got remarks about how small I was. The baby was 9lb 8ozs when she was born! Bump size isn't always relevant. I just tell everyone I must have really toned abdominal muscles! If you find the remarks upsetting, let your colleagues know. I eventually did this and nobody commented on it again.
Good luck with your pregnancy. I expect in a few months you'll feel like the size of a house. :)

I was 8 months before I showed!

DD was 8lb 4oz so not tiny - I think it was just because I am tall and had been going to gym loads so good stomach muscles. I was gutted though - really wanted a bump to show off!

I was like this with my DD (5 weeks old now). I didn't show until 7 months and even then I was tiny. At 38 weeks I was sent for a growth scan because I was only measuring 33 weeks, and they said she was only about 5lbs. She came 6 days laters weighing 7lbs 4oz!

I was so tiny with her that I've had people asking me on the park where I walk my dogs if I've adopted her because they didn't see a bump under my coat.

I put it down to the fact I'm a size 6 and I only put a stone on in my pregnancy, and my tummy was very muscly (not so much now!).
