Sudden, fast, weight gain

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have suddenly started piling on weight at a rate of knots. Is this normal?! I'm worrying I'm going to end up the size of a house, and have loads of weight to lose afterwards.

Pre-pregnancy I was 10 st 10lb and 5ft 6ins, giving me a BMI of 24. In the first 21 weeks of pregnancy I put on 7lb, which seemed to me to be a sensible and steady weight gain.
However, in the last two weeks alone I've almost doubled this, and now weigh 11st 8lb - a 12lb weight gain altogether. My boobs have gone up another cup size in the last fortnight too, and my bump looks and feels huge. I can almost feel it stretching, ridiculous as that may sound.

I have been hungrier and have been snacking more, but mostly on healthy things (okay, the odd cake, but mainly bananas and cereal bars).
Is it normal to have a sudden period of weight gain like this, or should I be careful now and cut back on what I'm eating, before I get far, far too big?
Aaaagh!

its normal! dont panic!

do try to eat foods that have a low GI though and plenty protein etc, as you will feel fuller for longer and not gain too much overall.

in my exp you lose a stone the minute you give birth, and the rest will come off over the course of time too

I put on loads from 20 weeks onwards, and was utterly ravenous the whole time.

I am now 33weeks, my appetite has only decreased very slightly, and I am not going to weigh myself at all until way after I have given birth!

I'm at the same point lovey but just a week ahead of you, don't worry! the stretching is crazy, you think you cant grow any more but we've got a bit to go yet :) I'm trying not to think about the extra food I want to eat, I'm just nibbling on healthier snacks throughout the day like you and hoping I can shift most of it by giving birth, but its a very normal part of pregnancy xx
