Hello! I'm 37 weeks pregnant and my feet and lower legs are swollen....but in last 2 days I've been suffering with my hands - particularly my right hand. Waking at night with very uncomfortable pins and needles and not being able to open lids on jars.....I also have swollen area between thumb and index finger....is this carpal tunnel problems or should I be calling midwife? Any advice greatly received

Any sudden swelling could be pre eclampsia so you should call your midwife and get your bp checked asap.

if the itch is localised on palms of hands and soles of feet only you should also ask for a blood test to check for obstetric cholestasis - which can be harmful if it is not detected and managed and is harmless if you medically manage it.

I'm 27 weeks and have more or less the same thing. I struggled to get my wedding ring off this morning but I rang the midwives and they said unless it was accompanied by any other symptoms it was probably 'normal' and I'd be fine to wait till my appointment next week!

It sounds like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome :( Fo which there is nothing to do except give birth! I am suffering the same and have been since 35 weeks now.

Sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome. Currently counting down the hours til baby evicted and I can pick things up again. North seeing your midwife to reassure and to refer to a physio, wrist splints helped me a lot at your stage.
