Heart problems?

I am 8+1 and in 2009 had an ablation for tachycardia. Since then, I have experienced ectopic heartbeats that my GP says are harmless. Nonetheless, before I got pregnant I cut out caffeine and cut way back on alcohol, which has helped. Stress seems to make it worse, though. Does anyone else suffer from irregular heartbeats? Will it likely affect my fitness to give birth? I will ask my MW but first appt isn't till 17 July.

Hi - I gave birth last year having had an ablation 14 years ago. I had some palpitations during pregnancy but lots of people do apparently. I saw a cardiologist and had an ECG at 38 weeks. All fine. My big concern was for the baby as I nearly died as a baby from wolff parkinson white/ tachycardia and it is hereditary. Though of course now things are different, I didnt want her to be born distressed as I was. She was put on a heart monitor for an hour straight away and nothing was detected. she is perfect! My advice would be not to worry - I didnt find it was a problem at all but everyone was ready if it turned out to be one.

Thank you - good to hear! Don't think mine is hereditary, but I'm sure they'll watch me closely.
