I recently tried castor oil and it didn't work. The only thing the castor oil did was cause adominal pain and diarrhea. I have heard that it can cause my baby to have a bowel movement inside me and it may cause dealth. Now I feel like I have killed my baby girl because of what other people have told me. Is this true????

Go to the hosipal and explain what has happened as castor oil can cause baby to pass meconium. Let us know.

i tried castor oil, was given it by my midwife (she's old school) so it can't do that much harm.. don't worry, at least you're not constipated

This is an old school remedy for inducing labor. It is very common in some countries and where I grew up, in America, my parent's generation used this. In fact, my mother-in-law swears it helped to bring on labor for a few of her children.

I think the idea behind using it is that it helps to clear the mother's bowels, therefore allowing the baby's head to descend further into the birth canal. A laxative could potentially do the same thing.

I have no idea if using castor oil may cause the baby to poo, but it might bring you some reassurance to know that taking castor oil is common thing to do.
