hello, I'm four/five weeks pregnant with DC2 and I knew I was having obstetric care as I have heart and lung problems and met the Dr in a pre conception clinic earlier in the year. However I have received my first obstetric appt for August 15th. I'll be 12 weeks pregnant by then and in my first pregnancy I had seen my previous obstetrician 3 times and had 2 scans, albeit that was at another hospital. I feel like this is too long a wait and want to ask for a quicker appt but don't know if I'm being unreasonable. Your thoughts would be welcome- thanks.

Do they (booking in people) know that you have those problems and how serious they are?

I ask this because (totally unrelated but...) my son's appointment to go back to hospital was scheduled for mid August. But the medicines would have run our by early august. Plus the fact that the consultant himself said 'we will see you in 6 weeks' (which ties in with the med supply etc). So I've had to ring appointments to ask.

Long story short - id ask for an earlier appointment. Good luck! Smile

It's pretty rare to see a consultant much before 12 weeks so I'd say that's pretty normal. Of course I don't know about your specific condition but if you have trouble with that you would prob see your specialist anyway. I have a high risk pregnancy and didn't see mine till about 14 weeks. I don't think they often see people before 12 (because of mc rate). If you are worried call and ask but sounds pretty standard to me. Good luck with your pregnancy.
