Does CF/CM change smell in pregnancy?

Does CM get stronger in smell or change at all? I've just noticed that it's thicker and smells a bit different than usual. Is this a pregnancy symptom at all? Or is change in smell purely a sign of something bad?

Yes, CM does commonly change during pregnancy. I think your body produces more of it to prevent infection, and the smell and consitency can change too. However, it it smells very strong or unpleasant it could be a sign of an infection.

I swear mine used to smell of curry! Honest to god!! None that i've given birth, the smell has gone.

Hahaha that's great. I don't suppose your DP thought it tasted like curry too? XD

Don't think so!! Although he did comment that when my waters burst (at terrific force) that they stank! But I think that's quite common. Apparently waters can smell like sperm?! I just learnt that on a different thread today Hmm

I promise I do keep good foof hygiene as I'm not painting a particularly fragrant image here am I!?

Don't worry, I've had really bad body odour for the past two weeks, and dandruff!!! Both nasty symptoms! Boobs have gotten huge though :D

So glad someone has posted about this, I definitely think I smell different - not enough to get checked out for anything but it has weirded me out. Also definitely more/whiter CM but not enough/any other symptoms to suggest thrush or BV.

Thanks for the reassurance whatsoever!

Phew! Me too! Although, I'd put it down to my sense of smell being heightened... Feel like I smell 'ripe' all the time but DH says I don't... But I've also become more aware of my Labrador and Jack Russell's doggie breath... I can smell them from miles away! And anything in the fridge that's getting old or not been covered properly! Smile

Nah it's definitely not sense of smell, DP says I stink too rofl
