Bump really 'pop out' into a proper big bump?

I am 18 weeks and still just look fatter than usual! I do look a bit pregnant especially when I wear maternity clothes but naked there is definitely still 2 rolls there!! Ie above and below my belly button.

I was a curvy size 14 and 5'8" before I got up the stick, so would be especially interested to hear from similarly proportioned ladies :)

at 36 weeks Hmm

Tigresswoods · 28/06/2012 08:40

I remember waiting for my 20 week scan at the hospital waiting room & I STILL didn't look pregnant. I did by 25 weeks tho!

Tigresswoods · 28/06/2012 08:41

And to answer you properly was size 12 5,9

mrswee · 28/06/2012 09:01

It does eventually then suddenly there is no mistaking it, a massive bump... probably nearer 30 weeks

I'm 18 weeks with my second and have ahd an obvious bump since about 14 weeks, such a differnce to the last time where I could be mistaken for fat until 30 weeks or so!

missingmymarbles · 28/06/2012 09:22

Same as Tigresswoods
I'm about 5'9" and a 12-14. First time not obvious at all until about 25 ish weeks, didn't wear maternity clothes until around 26 weeks either, DD born 3 weeks later.
This time, bloated at 8 weeks, little bump at 10, maternity clothes depending on the style between 15 and 20. Feel massive now at 37+

DawnOfTheDee · 28/06/2012 09:25

At about 15 weeks. My bump ended up huuuuge though and DD was 10lb 10oz at birth...

Herrena · 28/06/2012 09:28

At 5'8" you are a little taller than average, so baby can stretch out a little more. Therefore I'm guessing it'll take a while for you to have a 'no mistaking it' bump. A friend of mine is 6' and never really had a giant bump - I always liked to think of her baby reclining at his ease in there even after 35 weeks :)

I'm 5'5" and (ahem) well-covered, so I am only obviously preggers when I pass the 30 week mark Hmm. In first preg I was sitting at a table, 38 weeks gone, and the waitress brightly said 'gosh, are you pregnant?' when my mum mentioned it. I was horrified!!

QueenKong · 28/06/2012 10:15

I'm about your size and remember getting offered a seat on the train when I was 23/24 weeks. Either the bump must have been obvious or the kind offerer was very brave!

DangerMousey · 28/06/2012 10:41

Thanks guys - just been feeling a bit worried over the last few days that I don't seem to be growing like I should be!

Also haven't really put on any weight in the last couple of weeks. I have put on about 8-9lbs so far, but now seem to have 'stalled', just at the point where all the books lead you to believe you'll start packing it on :-/

I guess everyone's different with this too, right? The MW heard a heartbeat at my 16 week appointment, a couple of weeks ago, so there's no reason to assume anything's gone wrong since then, is there??

I was about 25 weeks also with my first . I was only a size 10/12 then but somehow my bump was very neat . 22wks with dc2 just now and although size 18 now I feel I'm starting to look pg now rather than just fat . Thank goodness because for about the last 8 weeks I've just looked enormous !!! Grin

MsElisaDay · 28/06/2012 11:14

It's my first baby too. I'm 22 weeks, and I seem to have changed shape quite dramatically in the last fortnight alone!

At 20 weeks I just looked very fat. My boobs were bigger and my tummy had grown a lot, so only my "fat day" baggy jeans still fastened up, but I'd only put on 7lb or so.

Now, at 22 weeks, I've put on another 3lb - so 10lb altogether - and people who didn't know I was pregnant have started commenting. I've definitely got a "proper" bump now rather than just a chubby tummy, and it seems to have gone hard. Previously there was definitely a little roll there, but now my bump is all firm and sticking out.
I've also gone up about a cup size in the last fortnight, and have started needing the loo a LOT more, so I don't know if the baby's grown and is sitting more heavily on my bladder.

MsElisaDay · 28/06/2012 11:15

Oh, sorry, I should add I'm a size 12 and weighed 10st 10lb to start with. At 22 weeks, I'm now 11st 6lb.

CakeBump · 28/06/2012 11:21

I'm 15 weeks with my first and people started noticing around 12 weeks!

I've now got a definite, but small, bump and any non-maternity trousers are uncomfortable. Oh God I'm going to have a massive baby!!!

I'm 5ft 6 and usually a size 10/12.

PurplePidjin · 28/06/2012 11:28

18w tomorrow with PFB. Size 12 and 5'4" (so same sort of shape as you). Baby kicking like a good'un so i know s/he's fine.

I look like a chubby munter who ate all the pies. No bump, or not noticeable in clothes anyway. Still comfortably in my old 14 jeans (minus belt, need to get a bump band to hold them up i think) and normal other clothes.

Brew in sympathy!

PurplePidjin · 28/06/2012 11:29

Oh, and I've put on about 3kg!

wfhmumoftwo · 28/06/2012 11:32

The day after i told work i was pregnant!. I didn't tell my boss (with either of my pregnancies) that i was pregnant until 1 was 22 weeks and went into work in usual size 12 clothes (I'm 5'9). Following day they would not fit and i was in maternity clothes all the way from then! Bizarre but it was literally overnight. Have no idea why or how

rudbekia · 28/06/2012 11:39

First time round I had what looked like bad bloating at 16wks and didn't really look pregnant so to speak until I was 20-25wks....even then we are talking a very neat bump. I didn't start to really put weight on until around 30wks. This time round (2nd) I'm in my maternity clothes at 16wks!

BikeRunSki · 28/06/2012 11:40

I am the same size as you OP, and tummy was obvious with clothes on around early twenties of weeks. Never got huge, but that was because DS was footling breech.

BikeRunSki · 28/06/2012 11:41

Second time I was in mat clothes at 9 weeks!

NervousAt20 · 28/06/2012 11:42

Im 21 weeks with my first normally a size 10 and yday a lady commented that I had a baby growing in my belly to her daughter so hopefully I'm looking preg now and my just plump Grin
