Can you tell baby's position from kicks?

I've tried feeling my tummy and I cannot tell a thing with regard ti position etc. I'm 32 weeks and baby has been transverse - not sure where it currently is. But as all the kicks I've had are low down in the middle to left hand side a friend of mine says that baby must still be transverse, she says if it was head down I'd only feel kicks high up under ribs but definitely above belly button. Is she right or talking rubbish??

My kicks are in the same place. I am 27 weeks so not as far along as you.
I don't know the answer, but a friend said the same to me so I am assuming baby is still not the right way up. My next midwife appointment is in 2 weeks so I will ask then... not that they've been able to answer any of my questions so far!

Check out the 'spinning babies' website, there's some interesting stuff on mapping your baby's position on there

My baby has been head down lying along my left hand side for at least the last month (I'm 38 weeks and have had me and scan confirmation) and I feel kicks/movement on my left hip bone, under my ribs on both sides and some just to the right of my belly button! So all over really Grin

Mine is breech (31 weeks) and I can feel a head under my ribs on the right, and her feet kick above my belly button on the left but not as high as my ribs.

Well I had MW appointment today and baby is breech, so my friend was partially right about the low kicks etc. Now just have to persuade her to get into the right position!
