I'm a MW and from my experience, it is definitely more usual for the expecant parents to know the sex of their baby nowadays
When I was pregnant with DC1 I didn't want to know, and found out 'by accident' at 30 wks. I felt loads different about being pregnant when I knew. Felt more 'bonded' somehow, it was easier for me to imagine what life was going to be like (that sounds daft I know).
Anyway, now preg again and definitely going to try and find out this time. Completely changed my view on it.

Anyone not found out with DC2 but did with DC1? Anyone regret finding out etc?

I found out first two babies, too impatient.

Am a midwife now too and won't find out with this own, my views have totally changed on it. This also has something to do with the fact one of my children was born with a abnormality and up until we found out I didn't give much thought to the 20 weeks scan bar the excitement of finding out the sex.

I'm only 12wks with my first and it never occurred to me to not find out.
There's going to be too much excitement finally meeting him/her that I'm not sure I'd cope with additional surprise of whether it's a boy or girl.

After spending the majority of my life believing that I was unable to have children, I still can not get my head round the idea that there might actually be a little person in there. The more I know about them the better. If I could get a photo of them, know what colour their eyes will be, whether their hair will be curly, if they'll have the same button nose as my Dad... I would. I can not wait to meet them and every bit of information will get me closer to that day.

I'm glad to know that there is a chance that a girl prediction could be a boy with his legs crossed. I do not like the girly pink stuff and will be able to temper my Mum's urge to purchase it by saying that there is always a chance it could be a boy.

Both myself and my partner are only children, so we only plan on having one. No preference at all and a girl prediction that turns out to be a boy will be no more disappointing than finding out your ice cream comes with a cherry on top rather than on the side. :)
