Hi. 2 weeks ago, fetal growth scan estimated Bubbs to be 8lb 10oz. (I measured 42 cm then).
Now, I measure 46cm, and the consultant said 'its all baby', and estimated 9lb 15oz. The midwife in the room joked and asked if I was going for the record for the biggest baby in that hospital!

Had GTT and all was normal, so its not down to that...its just physically big. (I guess the fact that DH is 6'5" cones into play here!)

She suggested walking to get Bubbs going, but my back problem, and the fact I'm SO bloomin' massive, makes it painful at any pace for longer than 15 mins. She also suggested doing the deed with DH, which is fine, but was a comedy of errors last time and not very comfortable either.

I'm pretty scared to be honest....2 weeks until any induction will be considered. How will I manage? What's it like having 10/11lb+ babies? I'm listening to my hypno cd trying to be positive, but having little success.

I'd like to hear all stories please, even less positive ones so I can mentally prepare. Thanks all.

Apologies too:. Typing this on phone and think it might've posted itself already before I'd finished. Cheers.

Hi I measured 49 by the time I had DC4 she was 10lb 1oz and very long. It was fine seriously The smallest of mine was 7lb 6oz (a month early) and that was the worst labour all the others were 10lbers and it was fine.
Just trust yourself and your body if you feel like a certain position helps do it.
Personally I loved bouncing on the birthing ball and being stood up - gravity helped me.

Also a friend of mine was measuring big had scans who confirmed it and hers was 8lb 6oz.

Good luck.

Thanks Dilligaf. Quite reassuring to read. I hope my big-un comes as nicely as yours!

All my babies have been 'big'. (I've never been measured in any of my pregnancies) No. 4 was 11lb and he was no problem at all.

Also if your DH is 6'5", maybe baby is going to be long... Like Dilligaf said, you just need to trust yourself, you can do it!!

If it helps, I've heard big babies are easier to labour and birth with as they press well on the cervix for dilation, and they've got a good bit of weight behind them to propel them down. Could be bollocks, but hey, maybe it made you feel better! :)

My DS was the biggest baby for me at 8lb110z but also my quickest and easiest labour - just 4 hours, gas and air, no stitches, nothing. He's 8 weeks now and in clothes for a 3-6mth old - he's just so blooming long!!

I think that gravity does help with bigger babies too, certainly the case for me!

Good luck x

I always measured 3 weeks ahead of my dates with my first and they let me go into natural labour at 41+3.

I pushed for a long time until they decided to help me. I was prepped for a CS but went in for a trial Ventous. 10 mins later and with a burst of adrenaline and a lot of pushing on my part and a good old tug from the registrar out he popped. It wasn't traumatic at all and obvs not a run of the mill birth. (I think the issue here was that they wouldn't let me walk round and he was still quite high when they decided to let me push)

DS was born 10lb 4oz and 59cm long - I put 8lb on my entire pregnancy.

This time round I'm planning on being as mobile as possible to get baby out as I'm sure it'll be another bruiser.

You'll be fine - we're made for this!!!

My PFB was 10lb 4oz too! I measured big and ended up with baby coming at 40+5. I was on G&A by the time it came to pushing had a very small episiotomy. She came out back to back and I laboured till 8cm at home on just paracetamol. She is 3 months now and starting to fit into 6-9month clothing!

It'll be fine. Really. Good luck x
