Bruise-like pain on ''bump" at 17 weeks

Just that really: I am 17+2 and have a small proto-bump, which has appeared in the last week or so. It's not a proper big round bump yet cos I wa pretty chunky to start with, size 16 but you can tell I'm PG.

Woke up this morning and noticed I can feel a bruise-like pain on a specific part of my 'bump', when I press it, about 2 inches below my belly button and to the left.

Anyone know if this type of localised pain/bruised feeling is normal?

Hello,
I've not had this on my bump but I have an invisible bruise on the front of my thigh.
It sounds strange, but it really hurt!
I asked my midwife about it last week and she had said she didn't know what it could be and check with the GP if I'm worried about it.
I've not bothered as it's going away now, so hopefully yours will too.
By the way, my thighs have grown considerably so it may be something to do with the stretching.

Hi dangermousey,
I had the exact same thing at around 17 weeks. I remember as I thought the midwife had bruised me with the doppler thing at my 16 week appointment as she pressed quite hard when listening to the heartbeat. Could it be from this too?
I think it lasted a few days. Hope this helps. X

I've been getting the same kind of thing on and off for a few weeks (27 weeks now) - top of the bump, near the tummy button. My midwife reckons it is just stretching pains. She reassuringly said that if the pain comes on gradually (bruise style) and there's no accompanying blood, then it's most likely just "one of the two hundred undefined aches and pains of pregnancy." HmmGrin
