Braxton Hicks

This is my first pregnancy. I'm 27 weeks and wondering if I'm having/have had braxton hicks. I've had a couple of very brief feelings across my bump where it feels tight (bit like when you're really bloated but only for a few seconds) when I touch my bump it feels harder than normal. It doesn't hurt but isn't entirely comfortable either. Are these braxton hicks? If not any ideas whats going on? I'm not overly worried as baby is moving etc and fine but I like to know whats going on with my body and this is something I've never experienced!

They sound like Braxton Hicks to me. I'm on my second pregnancy (36 weeks) and am getting them all the time. I spoke to my midwife about them and she said that they were a good thing as they are strengthening the womb, and that I should only worry if they started to hurt and become regular. Sometimes they are so strong I feel a bit like I can't breathe, but they don't really hurt, I would just say they are uncomfortable. Hope that helps :-)

Yeah thats really helpful thanks. I wasn't sure if 27 weeks was a bit early but then I've been feeling movement since 15 weeks (not linked I know) so I guess this LO and my body don't do things 'by the book' (as most don't I guess).
