With DC1, I had everything completely ready by about 30 weeks - hospital bag immaculately packed, everything bought, clothes washed and folded etc etc Blush Of course, he was 8 days late!

Fast forward a few years, and I'm now 30 weeks with DC2. Nothing is really ready - I have a few bags of clothes stashed on top of the wardrobe, and a few things bought/dragged out of storage, but that's it. I'm planning to be ready by 36 or 37 weeks. That's ok right? I have SPD and a 2 year old...

Currently 33 weeks with DC1 and not prepared at all. Hoping to start soon, but plan to be ready by 36-38 weeks...

Phew, I think I was a bit odd last time. Blush

40+4 with DC1 and still not all prepared. Have the basics in place but baby's room is still empty, no furniture bought yet and we only a few babygrows to see us through the first few days as we don't know if it's a boy or girl and I didn't want loads of plain white clothes.

I did pack my hospital bag this morning, though :)

flagnogbagnog · 23/06/2012 17:05

I'm 36+3 and have been out shopping for last little bits today. This is dc4 so i'm way more relaxed. We havn't even got the blimmin' car sear yet!

I've just been getting little bits sorted here and there very gradually over the past month or so. Will pack my bag tomorrow.

missingmymarbles · 23/06/2012 17:41

DC1 surprised us before 30 weeks and we had virtually nothing ready, didn't even have a bedroom, since we were renovating, and we managed.

This time, had everything ready and organised, and bag packed by 32 weeks.

Little monkey wasn't gonna catch me out a second timeGrin

Cheekychops84 · 23/06/2012 17:49

I'm 35 weeks have bought some bits and pieces but haven't gone mad on the sleepsuits and outfits etc as ppl buy/give u so much stuff try never get to wear/need it all. If we do need extra bits there is always a tesco or mothercare down the road!

OTTMummA · 23/06/2012 18:08

I am 35 weeks, am having a section in 3 weeks, we are also moving this Saturday Shock so hopefully most of it will be done by 36 weeks.

I have her clothes, bouncer, pram, hospital bag things, but none of it is organised as it is still in its packaging, changing table, bedding and cot are coming to the house Monday.
It is certainly frustrating not being able to set things up, i just hope she doesn't come early.

BBisTitanium · 23/06/2012 18:16

Room was decorated along with rest of house about 8 weeks before DS1, furniture was up everything was bought etc.

DC2 due 7/1/13 but will be ELCS and on that date or a bit before. Room has been decorated since we moved in, have most of the stuff, buggy will arrive beggining of DEC id imagine. Going to sort out rest of
rubbish paraphernalia after 20 week scan. Then doing Ikea run in nov for other bits.

Hospital bag was packed 2 days before, and will be night before this time!
Totally chilled about it this time!

Benaberry · 23/06/2012 19:29

35wks with DC2, and haven't started!

Well, I've bought a few bits and bobs (including a sensibly sized bag this time!) but haven't started actually sorting things out, packing hospital bag or anything else. Need to get (DH) into attic to get down DS1's stuff so I can sort through & wash, but loathe to start before new chest of drawers arrives so I can put it away once clean, and that won't be until 11th July-ish...

Suppose I should really start to get myself organised; have now finished work, so will start to look at over next couple of weeks... Pretty sure by this stage with DS I had an organised nursery and packed hospital bag stashed under the cot!

yomellamoHelly · 23/06/2012 19:34

With ds1 was couple of months beforehand. With ds I had a day where I thought at last I'm ready (about a week to go) - and then went into labour that night. With dd was a couple of days before (but by then my getting ready was buying in food for the dc, getting school kit ready etc so bit more involved than getting moses basket out and sorting a pile of babygros!).

BBisTitanium · 23/06/2012 19:36

Does it count as organised if you know what you are going to buy?! Grin ive picked stuff... Just not parted with the dosh! Im getting married 4 months after DC2 too so i should be more panicked...should be Wink

MissCoffeeNWine · 23/06/2012 20:15

I was ready when DC1 was about 6 months old. This time I can't think of anything to get ready. I guess we will be winging it.

EnergyStar · 23/06/2012 20:34

I was doing a degree when I was expecting DS2. I had a big exam 4 weeks before he was due, so the plan was to take the exam, then start maternity leave and get everything done in those last 4 weeks. He was 3.5 weeks early!

I'm still not ready - practically none of the things on that list have been done and he's 9yo now! TBH I don't think he's noticed Grin

I did very well in the exam though Smile

Midgetm · 23/06/2012 20:42

I was bad the first time and only got ready at 37 weeks when consultant said the baby was coming out in 2 days time. This time I think the baby will be raised by wolves. Done nothing, brought nothing, planned nothing.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 23/06/2012 20:45

Ds1, I had everything ready by 32 weeks. Was very organised Grin. He finally arrived at 42+5, and I think I'd added in something extra to my hospital bag every day that he was late, so it looked like I was going off on a round the world trip by the time that he was born!!!

Ds2 I packed my hospital bags and got stuff out of the loft at 38 weeks, assuming that he'd be late too. He duly arrived on his edd and we were like those travellers that you see at airports with hand luggage only when we went to hospital!

sleeplessinderbyshire · 23/06/2012 20:47

packed bag yesterday (at 37 weeks with number 2) with number 1 i think I packed bag at 38 weeks. Nursery is still bare plaster and no floor and all clothes/moses basket etc etc still in loft as nowhere to put it yet. With DD the car seat arrives 2 hrs before I went into labour and the pram a week before

NinjaChipmunk · 23/06/2012 20:51

Am 39+3 with dc2 and have packed hospital bag this week just gone, mainly because we've just put our flat on the market and if I didn't pack it, it would disappear into 'storage' in the garage not to be seen till we actually move. We dug the car seat out today and gave it a wipe down, I think we'll have to keep it in the car till the baby decides to arrive as otherwise there's no where to hide it when we have viewings!

PartialToACupOfMilo · 23/06/2012 20:55

I felt I was pretty organised with dd1 and had bag packed before I needed it. We also had car seat, basket and a few clothes ready. However I was convinced she would be late and she was 2 wks early, so although I'd planned to use the bath for pain relief (planned home birth), it was still full of tins of paint, rollers and dust sheets from decorating her room! We hadn't looked at how to use the TENs and she was so small all of the clothes we had ready were too small and being born on a Saturday night, didn't have anything to fit for the first couple of days - but it all worked out fine :)

Currently 25 weeks with dc2 and have been given a cardigan, but again I feel pretty organised! They don't need much anyway do they? And I'm not planning on buying all new again this time.

I might buy a new pushchair soon though as the buzz is getting heavy to lift into the boot when I pick up dd from the cm and we're planning on replacing it eventually.

seabuckthorn · 24/06/2012 07:21

I was ready at 30 weeks with DS1 who came on his due date.
Probably ready at 34 weeks with DS2 who came 3 days early.

I like to be organised!

RichManPoorManBeggarmanThief · 24/06/2012 12:28

34 weeks and have nothing ready (and still 5 wks of work to get through).

Thought I was in labour on Thurs night (was just wind Grin......thank god I didnt wake my Obs up at 3am for that), and decided I probably should at least get a hospital bag ready and get the stuff I have lent to various friends (swaddles, my brest friend etc) back.

Still havent done it though. It's weird, because this baby is much wanted and was planned but DH and I both say we dont think we'll really accept we're having another one till we're holding him or her.
