Thinking about this post birth. I had a quick search for past threads and while lots of people were considering it, I couldn't find much on experiences after!

Not sure I want to invest in anything too fancy if using an old sari will do the trick...

Any advice would be appreciated. : )

I looked into it but read that it stops your tummy muscles healing as you don't use them for support - similar to the problems women used to have from everyday corset use.

I asked my midwife, she advised spending an hour a day lying in bed on my front. Tummy healed perfectly from doing this!

Obviously that was after the birth not before!!!

Also, drinking raspberry leaf tea encourages the uterus to shrink quicker which will make tummy appear flatter.

As will breastfeeding...

I was thinking about this after a Brazilian friend told me it was common practice in Brazil. She had a flat stomach in no time (though she doesn't drive and walked everywhere. I'm sure that helped!)

I read about Malaysian midwives rubbing in herbs and coconut oil, then binding mother's bellies like that. They said it encourage everything just to move back, but it still required exercise and movement from the mother after the appropriate time.

But you know - coconut oil is amazing, it's so good for everything external and internal and have been slathering it all over me liberally, and eating it in every meal Grin

RockChick wasn't that really painful for your boobs?

RockChick1984 · 23/06/2012 15:06

Nope, just propped myself up a bit on my elbows (as though reading a book). Don't have the biggest boobs in the world though, no idea how someone better endowed would get on!

Thanks guys! Sorry I completely forgot I started this thread (can I use baby brain as an excuse?).

That's something to take into account RockChick! I don't want to spend money only to end up with even weaker muscles!

Think I'll stick to exercise and will be breastfeeding so I hope that will shift the majority of the belly!

Bettybat, I'm obsessed with coconut oil too, that and argan oil!

Coconut oil makes an amazing lubricant, I react to anything else.
