I am only 6 weeks pegenant with dc2 and this definately did not happen last time. I can hardly move or think it is sp painful. I have never really had headaches anyway but this one has lasted nearly 24 hours and when i move or anything it is throbbing so much. How am i going to cope with this. I was crying in pain this morning. I am justwondering if it is due to being pregnant or if it is something else?

Have you taken painkillers? I had some headaches in early pregnancy but not unbearably painful. I'd see a Dr.

It sounds more migrainey than headachey. I had a lot of them in early pregnancy - it's probably hormonal - but I'd definitely speak to your GP.

I had this kind of headache in the first few weeks, lasted a week despite regular painkillers. It'd hurt so much on changing position I 'd have to stop moving til the pain settled a bit. Horrid but it resolved itself! I knew my bp was fine cos I'd checked it, just think it was another random pregnancy thing!

Sounds like migraine to me :0( they are the pits. I have them regularly when not pg and even more when pg. I had 3 last week, and mine last 24 hours too. See your gp, they should be able to prescribe something. I find laying on my back with a cold flannel over my eyes a big help.

I'd recommend that you go to to Doctor. I had these and they found out that it was a urinary (sp?) infection. I had no other symptoms so didn't think that they were right but the test results came back positive. A short course of antibiotics sorted me out very quickly.

Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like your sinuses, that's a horrid headache. Can you do some menthol inhalation, apart from getting some antibiotics it really does relieve some pain. Worth a try?

Curlychica · 22/06/2012 20:56

I did not have headaches with first pregnancy either. BUt with my second it was just awful - so painful. Thankfully only had them in first trimester. They wont last. Do take some paracetamol though - when it gets really bad you need too.

ellangirl · 22/06/2012 20:59

Poor you. I have suffered from terrible headaches this pregnancy so I empathise. Haven't had one for a few weeks (am 22 weeks now) so hoping they're finished! You can take paracetamol, and also codeine if you really need. Warm flannel on forehead or back of neck can also help instead of cold, or maybe alternate them? Try to keep your jaw relaxed. read on here a while ago that saline spray up your nose can help with sinus type headaches.
Hope it goes soon for you.

TBH i wouldnt wait till monday get to out of hours docs...i had this too for three days but with sickness from preg and also from migrane.

doc will check your urnie to be on safe side and give you somethng stronger for head like co codemol or something like that. Thats if your ok taking something stronger, they said was fine with me at 9 weeks.

when your preggers they get you in ....and dont mind seeing you at all.....

dont suffer!

Of course your drinking lots of liquids etc...

elizaregina · 22/06/2012 21:06

BTW i was on co dydramol and paracetomol for three days and it wasnt touching pain in the end i took 1 tramadol and it was gone in literally TWENTY MINUETS!

in extreme cases where maternal need is great they can give you that...
