Pain in top of left thigh by my bum

Hi all
This may sound an unusual complaint, I am 26 weeks + 3 days. For the past few days I have been getting pain in the top of my left thigh, the pain is round the back near where my bum and crotch area meet my thigh.
It is starting to get so painful I'm finding it difficult to get dressed and undressed. I also get a tingling/numbing sensation on the front of the same thigh when I lay down to sleep.
Has anyone had anything similar, or shed any light on what could be causing it?

Could it be sciatica?

I'm not sure, I've never had it before. Can it just come and go in pregnancy?

I have had it before but not in pregnancy. I googled it for you and found this thread. I hope you find some relief.

Thank you that's really helpful Smile I've started a pregnancy yoga class so hopefully that will ease it

There are a few yoga poses that help relieve sciatica, dog with leg lift is one, I think. Hope you find some relief soon Smile

I've had this for ages and I'm only 14 weeks. Someone told me it was the baby or some inner thingy (failed biology) sitting on your nerve and trapping it. It comes and goes but actually seems to get worse with exercise.

I'm hoping that when everything next shifts a bit it will ease.

You have my sympathies...

I have this too. But I also have SPD and I'm 41+2 weeks. It's usually caused when your relaxin hormones relax your muscles and joints ready for delivery and it allows things to move around a bit and trap nerves. Especially when you're bigger and the baby's head engages it's very common for them to trap nerves all over the place.
