Question about sugar in urine...

On Tuesday I had a routine midwife appointment and when she tested my urine sample asked if I'd eaten something sugary immediately before. I hadn't...or at least don't think I had as I took the sample at around 10am and had only had some no added sugar Alpen about an hour prior to that (if I'm being thick and the raisins in the Alpen may have had an effect please tell me!!) She then asked what I'd eaten the night before and I confessed to a fair few Cadburys chocolate fingers at about 9pm. She looked a bit puzzled but then said "that's probably it then" and made light of it all by saying there's nothing wrong with the occasional biscuit...

I just left at it that at the time but now I'm wondering if there could be a bigger problem - does anyone know if late night treats would really have been the cause? I can't help wonder whether she's just trying not to worry me as she knows my glucose test will take place in 2 weeks time!

To be fair, it's actually probably for the best as I've had no chocolate since!!! :o

Mine was the same! Every time I peed in a pot I had either glucose or protein in my wee. I used to go to my appts and my mw and I would try to predict what I'd get that time!! My mw used to question what I'd eaten/drunk that morning but not really the previous night.

I don't think you've got anything to worry about. You'll be being checked regularly enough to spot any problems. Maybe stick to dry bread and water for 2 days before your next appt!! JOKE!!!

Thanks, that's reassuring! Like the dry bread suggestion :o
