Belly button

Going a bit thread happy today but all my questions seem to come to me at once.

I had a very 'innie' belly button which now at 25 weeks defininitely feels different, like is being pushed out a bit but still an 'innie'.

Will I definitely get an 'outie' later on? I'm a bit freaked out by the idea, have a weird thing about belly buttons, my step mum used to clean them with a safety pin when I was younger - I know, I know, weird!

Nah, mine never became an outie, it just spread and has, unfortunately, never quite recovered Grin

PinkPepper · 21/06/2012 11:25

Mines gone slightly outie in the last few weeks (say from about 36 weeks), and mine was very nice and neat and in before. hopefully will go back a bit!
But, if it's any reasurrence, by the time it's got like this, I can no longer actually see it, or indeed anything below about where my bottom ribs are, so, ignorance is bliss and all that.

Hi i am 25 weeks this Thursday and mine is on max stretch, my partner keeps making sound effects like it is going to pop out at any second. I too have an issue with mine and it freaks me out also. Crap your thread made me go cold the thought of it being cleaned out with a safety pin !!!!
We will both have to be brave and hope it stays in inny not an outie but if it pops out dont look !!
Good luck to us both Hahahaah
Keep me posted

My innie never popped out, it just stretched a lot and became kind of flat.

nunnie · 21/06/2012 11:30

I've had 3 and each time it came out a little bit more as the pregnancy progressed but was never came out fully.

Spice17 · 21/06/2012 11:38

Phew, that's reassuring and sorry if the safety pin thing made you shudder Littlered

I noticed that Chantelle Houghton (spelling?) still seemed to have an 'innie' at 8 months, so am hopeful :)

I can't bear having my belly button touched at all!! DH things it's funny to try and stick his finger in it Completely freaked by the safety pin!!! Don't like when DD2 kicks in the umbilical region from the inside eitherGrin!!

I had a lovely, neat, taught innie til I had DD 7 years ago where it spread slightly and didn't return to quite the same but happily, remained an innie. This time, again, it has remained an innie, but is stretched and if DD2 is in a funny position, it sometimes gets flatter but it's still an innie Smile

Spice17 · 21/06/2012 12:58

Just realised I wrote 'clean "them" with a safety pin' I haven't got two I promise!

Oooh I'm having a lot of fun on here today when I should clearly be getting on with my work

Mine has popped out from an inny to full on outy (i'm 31weeks) It feels all soft and new like babies skin. DH is grossed out by it - lol.

It popped out last time with dd1 and it fully recovered to its previous state afterwards- if thats any reasurrance?

Velo · 21/06/2012 14:22

DH also grossed out my my stretching innie! If he's that squeamish about the belly button heaven help us at the delivery.

Pascha · 21/06/2012 14:24

Mine reached flat by 41 weeks but never actually popped out.

scarletforya · 21/06/2012 15:56

I also have a horror of outty belly buttons. I actually feel sick when I look at them! I got to 38 weeks still with no outty but it's slightly come out now (bleurgh) so I keep it covered and won't look at it. Revolting!

DangerMousey · 21/06/2012 17:51

I really hope mine doesn't end up popping out. I currently have a really deep innie probably cos I am a bit lardy

If it pops out it might look like a tiny tummy-penis. YUCK!!!

MissCoffeeNWine · 21/06/2012 17:54

I have a really deep innie normally and quite a flat tummy. It's still a deep innie at 29 weeks. It was a shallow innie but still definitely innie at 42 weeks last time and went straight back to normal - if anything it was deeper in after baby than before as I had a bit more tummy fat round it.

Panzee · 21/06/2012 18:04

I used to be grossed out by my belly button till it popped out. From then on I was not freaked by it. So there is hope for you OP! :o

At one point I could push it in and out with my tummy muscles (what was left of them!)

ellesabe · 21/06/2012 20:32

Mine popped out last time and I usually have a ridiculously deep innie. I can remember when I was a teenager my friends placing bets on how many coins I could fit inside my belly button Blush

ButtonBoo · 21/06/2012 20:55

Not necessarily. Mine just came up to almost flush with my belly but didn't quite get to be an out. I was freaking out about it too. Kept thinking of that 80s tv show 'V' where the alien bursts out if that womans belly. Had constant nightmares about it...literally! Decided if it popped out I'd stick a plaster over it so I didn't have to look at it. I was a bit of a crazy pregnant lady!!
