Sheepskin rug

Someone has kindly given me a small sheepskin rug for my soon-to-arrive (hopefully!) newborn.

Question is - what do I do with it?! What is it for?

I know, I'm a bit daft not to have asked the friend who gave it to me but pride at not wanting to appear ignorant, as well as not wanting to offend her, stopped me!

It's quite like this one: www.johnlewis.com/231554885/Product.aspx?s_kenid=40188400-a960-0be8-aac8-000071a2895d&s_kwcid=12x740507

We had one and was just nice for them to lie on as apparantly its cool in the summer and warm in the cooler months....we had to get rid of ours as my eldest just used to pull out chunks of the wool and then set about dribbling all over her hand so she had all this hairy goo over her...blurgh!

I got a bit obsessed with wanting a sheepskin when dd was born.. it was December and snow.

Is your's more of a rug then the specific baby one that pink pepper shows ?

Doesn't particularly matter I don't think though I think the fibres / hairs on the rug type one are longer than on the specific baby ones.

I got a rug like one and put it in DD's moses basket.. she was always ever so cosy in it and the midwife thought it was ace so clearly couldn't have been too worried about fibres or hygiene (DD did sometimes dribble milk etc onto it)

The pram ones are bit smaller.

Now she's 18mo and we use it as a rug for her to sit on and watch tv (or read books!)..

You can enjoy using it for lying baby on whenever really. Or perhaps if you did want the specific baby one for pram/pushchair you would have to suggest to friend that you exchanged it for that type.. maybe she doesn't know difference?

Gorgeous whatever though I think!

We had a lambskin for DS2 and it was fab. He slept on it in his Moses basket so whenever we wanted to put him down somewhere unfamiliar we took that and it settled him.

It also seemed as if it was more comfy than being put on a cold sheet - if he fell asleep being cuddled then I wanted to transfer him to the cot I mean.

My SIL used it too and I think she found it useful and I've just had it back for DS3.
