Early Labour - brown spotting?

I think I'm in early labour. Was woken up by sharp period pains, which seemed to follow a pattern (c. 7 mins) but subsided after about an hour.

I put a pad on because I wanted to monitor whether waters were leaking (felt a bit wet) and found that I've had a little bit of brown spotting. This doesn't seem to be a mucus plug (no discharge) but the kind of spotting you might get before a period.

I'm going to keep an eye on it and will call the maternity ward if it gets worse but just wondered if anyone else had this before?

I would call the maternity ward now and mention the spotting. They will probably want to know that, they will tell you if they think it needs checked out or not but I wouldn't ignore it.

I second what mrswee said, call labour ward straight away, better to be safe xxx
