Where does your baby kick and what position does he lie in?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I was just wondering how my baby's movements compare to other people's. I'm not worried, just curious!

When I am sitting or standing, baby usually kicks really low down, so I assume he's lying head up/feet down. These kicks are too gentle for anyone else to feel, though I do have an anterior placenta so maybe that makes a difference. But sometimes he switches to lying transverse and kicking my side, which can be felt by other people and I can often see my tummy move. He especially does this if I am lying on my side, or reclining to one side - this seems to make him change position.

Anyone's baby similar or are they all completely different?!

Sometimes low down, often the left side, today quite high up. I'm 24 weeks. Someone said recently it is sometimes elbows not kicks, so I don't know how much it says about position.

I felt a lot of kicks low down in the bump (quite strong internally but not noticeable from a hand on the outside) and it turns out the baby is breech (well it was two weeks ago when last checked - another check due this Friday at 35.3 weeks).

Don't let that worry you though as there is plenty of time/room for turning. A midwife told me it was head down (although scan proved otherwise) so for a while I thought the low kicking must be the baby waving it's arms above its head :) Other movements I get at each side, I am assuming are hands and elbows.

Hi Orchid - I'm 26+5 so just behind you!

I am getting lots of movements at the moment but a lot seem to be about midway down on the right hand side - which makes me wonder if she is lying across me and kicking that side? Or perhaps it's a head butt? Or maybe a bum chum, ha ha!

I'm 27 weeks too!

I have now nicknamed my baby Happy Feet as it is always dancing. Even back at my 12 week scan it was wriggling loads. Midwife always comments on how active it is. The last two visits she said it was head down and back to back, so you feel arms and legs a lot more because they're at the front. I suspect its like that a lot. I know its still early but hoping it doesn't get too comfy like that. I really can't tell how often it changes position. I try to have a feel but but when I feel a hard round bit I never know if it's a head or a bum. Sometimes I get a big bouncy kick in the middle that you can see, and sometimes cute little tickly movements, similar to the early ones, very low down and at the sides.

I always wonder what baby is doing in there too, especially when its having a party.
