Waters?

Sorry to ask but I'm confused by this and don't know what to think.

Just woke up and felt need to go to loo - as usual.

For the first time in pregnancy, didn't quite make it - seemed to come out of its own accord, much more than I normally pee (considering my constant trips to loo). 40+6 so probably being hopeful but is it possible it's waters?
Would I have felt need to go to loo? Or perhaps it might have been coincidence that I was needing the loo anyway (considering constant trips to loo)?

Have put a pad on - will this be a good indication if waters and what should I look out for?

You wouldn't have felt the need to pee, unless you just happened to at the same time lol. Sounds more like just pressure on your bladder from the baby. But check the pad for lots of liquid. Any pain at all? The liquid will smell different to pee so give it a whiff.

My waters went two weeks ago so I have recent experience of this!

I also woke needing the loo, but the waters kept coming out after my bladder was empty and no amount of 'holding it in' could stop it. I was leaving footprints around the bathroom and went through two pads in an hour. The maternity ward said to lie down on my back and this would cause the waters (if that's what it was) to pool in the vagina and then would gush out when I stood up again after an hour or so. I think this was so they could judge whether it was my waters or just urine.

Have you checked the smell of it? If it's clear or pinky that's fine apparently. And of course it wouldn't smell of urine.

Any pains yet? You could be meeting your baby soon, good luck! Smile

Thanks for the advice- thatll really clear it up I'll lie down then and see what happens.
It was clear and doesn't smell like urine but I guess it could just be very diluted....?!.
Some low level period type pains going on but I don't think anything too significant.
Hmm... what things pregnancy makes you share at 2am.

Cosmo, that's exactly how it was for me - low level period pains at 5am, was in labour by 6pm and baby born at 11.22pm. Exciting!

Oh hambles I wish it were so- happened nearly an hour ago and pad slightly damp but that's about it. Perhaps was just wee. :(

Cosmos I am going through the same thing!

Don't you love how dignified this whole thing is!

Hope you're ok :)

How's it going Cosmo, anything happening?

friedfrog · 19/06/2012 16:14

My mw is coming out to see what's going on.... I thought this was meant to be instinctive!!!!

Cosmo89 · 19/06/2012 18:16

Oooo Fried Frog! Looks like something IS happening your way.

For me Hambles? No. Nada. Went in for monitoring though (because of other issues) and it doesn't look like anything is going to happen soon. I did bump into someone I knew, whose waters HAD broken so maybe I was being extremely empathetic.

So it was pee then. Nice.

Ok, so mw thinks I am losing my waters slowly, I have to monitor my temp. They told me to keep my pads (gross) because they like to look at them. If they don't here from me tonight they are coming to see me in the morning. Whoop!
