When did you stop POAS-ing?

DH has taken away my remaining hpt, since I've peed on 8 today and freaked out when two had barely visible lines whilst forgetting that I'd used pee so weak that it was basically slightly yellow water.

Period is due tomorrow. Had definite positives yesterday and today (today seemed darker although pee was more concentrated - you see what I'm like?!).

I should stop peeing on sticks right? When did you stop? Feel like if I don't keep on testing I might just have had 10 faulty tests...

Umm, I have had 2 pregnancies and just POAS once with each.

If I were your DH I'd lock them away until the day after tomorrow and then let you pee to test.

All the best Thanks if you have positive results so far then that is a very good sign!

"if I don't keep on testing I might just have had 10 faulty tests..."

Haha, brilliant! Definitely reminds me of me in the early days. I did maybe 10 in the week before period due, then another 8 the week that followed... And another couple the week after that! First batch were 'normal' tests except for the last couple, which were those ones which also date. After which I of COURSE needed to go back the next week and the week after and check that the dating tests were now dating me a week ahead as they should....

Absolutely ridiculous. Still really vividly remember the nerves with the dating ones - knowing I'd be distraught if they hadn't gone up the right amount!

Clearly I'm in no position to distribute words of wisdom on the matter...

Er, I tested once with DS1, and twice with DS2 because the line was so very faint.

I would calm down :)

Purplecatti · 18/06/2012 18:00

I got through a fair few sticks. I just couldn't believe it. I made OH pee on one too just to make sure. He came out of the loo saying 'nope. I'm not pregnant. I don't know why but for a second there I got a bit nervous!'

strawberrybubblegum · 19/06/2012 08:57

Purple, that's fantastic Grin. Bless your OH for being willing to humour the crazy pregnant lady set your mind at rest!

LauraPalmerish · 19/06/2012 09:03

I POAS last night because I just happened to find it and I'm 7wks!

SwissArmyWife · 19/06/2012 09:08

Purple your post made me giggle!

Oceans - STOP PEEING ON STICKS! YOU ARE PREGNANT! Grin

I did two tests with my first, and two with this one :)

oceanstwo · 19/06/2012 11:20

Your post made me laugh too Purple...

So far I have gone almost 20 hours without any stick-peeing. Am feeling very smug :) Kind of odd being able to pee without first having to find a receptacle to catch it in!

Thank you all for talking/shouting sense into me.

Yes I did that, was briefly obsessed, but kinda spurred on by health issues that would need to be dealt with on bpf but it is really confusing! Any faint line is a positive, Congratulations! It did take till I was several days overdue/another week for a docs test to be positive though the first (day after missed p) was inconclusive even though sticks and a digital one was pretty dark.

All the best!

Clarella · 19/06/2012 11:29

And welcome to many months of loo paper inspection and obsessive worrying!

Mikyahrose · 19/06/2012 11:29

I waited till my period was a few days late before poas. I then did one when i got home from work and another a few days later. And that was it for me.

missingmymarbles · 19/06/2012 11:31

I did one, when I was four days late. Having had several mc's, I was too scared to do anymore in case the line was fainter. 36 weeks todaySmile

missingmymarbles · 19/06/2012 11:32

Oh yes, as Clarella said, I have spent the last 8 months knicker checking and inspecting loo paper Grin

BikeRunSki · 19/06/2012 11:35

2 pgs.
Both times waited for a month since LMP and did a digi test which told me in words. I have no patience for uncertainty, faint lines, false negatives etc.

oceanstwo · 19/06/2012 13:35

So true about the knicker checking - am almost scared to go to the toilet now... This leukorrhea thing is mean mean mean...

sherbetpips · 19/06/2012 13:41

oh god yeh the knicker checking that was awfulk, especially as I did start spotting at 3 mths pg and didnt stop for the whole pregnancy. doctor told me it must be coming from somewhere else!!!

Clarella · 19/06/2012 16:02

I once freaked momentarily cos our recycled loo paper hadn't been recycled enough and had a spot of red paper in it.

oceanstwo · 20/06/2012 08:10

I've done that Clarella - have a pair of white knickers with polka dots on. Some dots are red and you can just see them through the other side. Never noticed this until very recently!!

Oh the joys of paranoia!

Leftwingharpie · 20/06/2012 22:50

I have done five tests so far, one negative at 11dpo, two positive at 12dpo, one on each of the following days - both positive. Today was my first day without testing. I am still taking my waking temperature though to check it is still high. I have 2 clearblue digitals waiting in the wings, I'm sure they won't last long!

oceanstwo · 21/06/2012 08:31

Leftwing stop temping!!! I've heard that it doesn't tell you anything your BFP and that your temp can fluctuate..

OP posts:
Leftwingharpie · 21/06/2012 08:34

I thought it was "18 high temps in a row and you're pregnant"?

Consort · 21/06/2012 08:41

Your temp will rise and stay high at least for a while when you fall pregnant. Mine did a real shift, and then got even higher. I did stop temping once I had had a positive digital test (4 weeks after LMP) as I didn't want to cause myself stress if temp started falling etc, as I assume it eventually does, as hormones fluctuate.

boredandabroad · 21/06/2012 08:42

wow! i am 6 months pregnant now and have a five year old son. sometimes i wished the temptation to test early wasn't available. i have had 2 unsuccessful pregnancies and I'm sure with both of these (at 10 weeks) i wouldn't have known about if early tests weren't available. a lot less heartache for me if this was the case! i hope all works out well for you all as mine is now :) oh, this time 2 tests; one faint one strong! both 1 week after period due date x

Clarella · 21/06/2012 12:49

I do agree about over sensitive early tests leading to potential extra stress and heartache - I was very stressed (as the doc said I would be) when I'd had several days of bfp but the docs test at that point was 'inconclusive' - it was hard cos I was so anxious to get bpf to up thyroid meds which has to be done early. The previous month was a weird one, technically 10 days over due but resisted the tempt to test , then had massive period the day before I decided I was going to try. I do wonder if an early mc but not particularly upset by it as didn't know.

Due to the weird period I started temping, in case my cycle was becoming irregular (am 35 ) fell pregnant next month, continued till about 6 weeks but stopped as then it really began to fluctuate which scared me. Don't think much point if getting bfp.

It's a ridiculously tense and stressy time but totally understandable to want to keep testing. I did about 15 in the end over 2 weeks, all faint lines but only confirmed by docs test 8 days overdue.
