Maternity dress for a wedding, why is it so hard???

I'm going to a couple of weddings this summer, one in a couple of weeks and one (hopefully) two weeks before my due date in September. I've had no luck finding a nice dress anywhere - I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago and used a dress hire website, which was brilliant, but at £60 a time it's a bit pricey for multiple weddings (will use again as a last resort if need be though). I did find the lovely dress I hired, but it's £250 to buy, sadly...

I ordered a couple from Crave and somewhere else, but they are all so damn long! I'm 5'2" and mid-calf is not a good look for me (also, my legs are still quite a good shape so hopefully will balance out the big stomach) - I want something that hits just on the knee if possible.

Has anyone seen anything lovely that would be suitable, or know of any good online retailers that do that kind of thing?

I'm watching this thread with interest, as I also need a dress for an occasion. I found this dress
www.isabellaoliver.com/maternity-clothes/uk/100/new-maternity/DR110.html
I can't decide whether to choose a blue or a red though. Normally, I would choose red, but I'm afraid that I will look like a giant tomato (I will be over 6 mths pregnant)

I remember spending a day trawling around shops being told in almost every shop that they didn't tell maternity clothes. My local M&S also didn't sell maternity clothes and it was my last option, I remember bursting into tears at 7.5 months pregnant when the sales assistant said they had nothing in stock. She took pity on me and took me over to their per una clothes suggesting that I try one of their maxi dresses a couple of sizes larger. It worked a dream, I bought a Monsoon shrug and it made a really nice outfit.

Hi I went to a maternity dress hire place that hires out lots of the Tiffany Rose maternity dresses and was so cheap compared to what you buy them for. The lady also gave the complete outfit so i got a tiffany rose dress, shoes, bag, jewellery and fascinator all to match for £60 which I thought was amazing value and saved hours and hours of hunting round. She is based outside Belfast in county down in Northern Ireland but she said that she posts out outfits also. I know that searching for an outfit for a special wedding can be a nightmare and so exhusting so i thought this was a fantastic idea, and even at £60 a time at least you could be wearing a different outfit to each wedding and these days its hard to get a pair of shoes and matching bag for that amount. I only have the lady s number its 07714 989216 as know she has a facebook page but not sure if there is a website. Give her a call she is lovely and very helpful. I hope you get sorted.

tiffanyrose was amazing for me. Got a dress for my brothers wedding a few months ago and it fit really well. Will be wearing it to another wedding 2 weeks before my due date in sept and am very confident it will still be ok then - very stretchy. Made me feel great on the day too as everyone kept complimenting me on it.

Hello, this might well be too late for you but I'm also 5"2 and bought the most lovely maternity dress for a wedding from Isabella Oliver. They aren't too pricey and are really really comfortable

I had lovely purple one last year from Next. It was maxi maternity dress and I wore it as my own wedding dress at 34 weeks pregnant

Mamamaiasaura · 30/07/2012 14:53

I had a shrug to got with it too

I had quite a few weddings last year when I was pregnant. The first few weddings were between 3-4 months pregnant and I bought a cute dress from monsoon, empire line and a size larger than I would normally wear. I had 2 weddings when I was 8 months and I bought a maxi dress, stretch material, from primark for £11 and it was perfect!! Empire lines are the way forward when pregnant!

Have you tried Isabelle Oliver?
Fab dresses you can use after you have the baby too x

Another vote for Tiffany Rose.

I would also want to introduce some pregnancy dress for you! You can find yours at Magicweddingdress.com.

Try Pepperberry. Its the clothing arm of Bravissimo and makes things for curvier women in general, so the sizing is more generous
I paid about 70 quid for mine (although it was in the sale about 2 days after!), but I've already worn it to two weddings and have had so many complements on it. I Will definitely wear it again too. I think when you are feeling heavy, its important to have something that makes you feel your best and really comfortable.
