Bleeding at thirteen weeks, really scared

hi all
Anyone else had bleeding around end of first trimester and had a good outcome? Quite scared, had bleed this morning, went to nhs walk in and she booked me for a scan on Tuesday, had spotting since then and feel a bit pre-period.
Can this happen without it necessarily being the start of a miscarriage?

I had this at 13 weeks - hospital were lovely, DS is 6.5 months old and, as I type, has wee'd on my DH as a special father's day gift!

Hope you're ok.

Thank you for replying- that's good to hear- it's going to be horrible waiting for the scan, just had the dating scan last week and sort of relaxed a bit, bit foolish I think.

I had a mahoosive bleed at 11 weeks. Heavier than a period and it continued for 2 days then it stopped for a week and then I started spotting brown blood for about 2 weeks afterwards. Couldn't imagine that all would have been okay but they found a heartbeat on scan and also a large haematoma which was the cause of the bleeding.

I'm now 31 weeks and everything, touch wood, seems fine.

Best of luck!

One of my very close friends had this and is now 17 weeks pregnant, it turned out she had a small implantion bleed and everything is fine and the bleeding has now stopped

PipJoy · 17/06/2012 16:13

Thank you to you both, good to hear more positives. Pickle - don't suppose you had the period type feelings too?

I bled right through my pregnancy starting from 8 weeks until a massive bleed at 28 weeks where I had steroids in case they needed to deliver me early. I sometimes had light cramps too, but nothing too painful. I never found out the reason for the bleeding but it's a horrible thing to go through. In the end turned out fine and my DD is now 8 months old and perfect. keeping everything crossed for a good outcome for you too.

PipJoy · 17/06/2012 16:30

Thanks Jo, pleased for you that all worked out well, that sounds stressful. Thanks for the good wishes, really hope things will be okay for us, a bit calmer now actually from hearing positive stories and also realising I probably can't influence the outcome.

I'm sure everything will work out fine. We had an early scan at 8 weeks where we saw the heartbeat but I continued to bleed every few weeks after that. My midwife told me that it's fairly common and that I would undoubtedly know if I was miscarrying. I had really bad morning sickness to until around 16 weeks which was reassuring then we bought a Doppler which for us was a godsend though I know some people think they cause more worry. Once you can feel the baby move you'll feel better too.

I had a massive bleed at 12 weeks which landed me in a and e and my ds is now 2 :) mine was a sub chorionic haemorrhage and I bled on and off for about 6 weeks afterwards, was horrible but outcome was good so please try to stay positive x

Mama1980 · 17/06/2012 16:40

I had a massive bleed at 8 weeks and never really stopped. My ds is now 4 Smile I don't want to give you false hope but there is hope. Best of luck x

Bleeding from 11 weeks to 24 weeks. Heavy enough fir hospitalization twice. Sub chorionic haematoma. Currently sat with dd2 18m. It really can work out :) hope you are ok keeping my fingers crossed fir you. Try to keep positive :)

I hope everything is okay for you pipjoy.

I'm nearly 13 weeks and just noticed some spotting today. Only a tiny amount, and it doesn't seem to continuing but am really worried as I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks last time. I remember from reading last time that around 12 weeks you can get things like breakthrough bleeding or cervical changes that don't mean anything awful so I'm trying not to panic.

I'd only just started to relax and accept that it was all probably going to be fine this time and now I'm all on edge again. Not done anything so far as it really was a tiny amount and there are no pains or other concerning symptoms, but will get in touch with my midwife if there's anything else at all - but it's good to read that other people have had similar experiences and it turned out ok Smile

randomimposter · 18/06/2012 07:23

had a massive bleed at 14 weeks with DS, loads of bright red blood, thought there was no way things would be ok... he's just turned 4.

Have since had 5MCs though, 3 of them missed, so I know how worrying bleeding is.

Will be thinking of you on Tues, hope all well.

PipJoy · 18/06/2012 07:55

thanks so much all - you are all so lovely - whoever would have thought complete strangers would be so kind? its a bit of an eye-opener for me actually that people are this nice from a distance - so I thank you all.

And Anastasia - really hope things work out well for you - don't know about you but am also plagued with worry that I am over-reacting, dont want to bother the midwife etc, certainly felt bad about going to the walk-in centre, but they were great and said it was the right thing to do which was a relief.

I guess pregnancy is beset by worries isnt it? I think (hope) Jo is right - bring on the kicking! evidence!

thanks again all

Hello! All is good!! Would have posted yesterday but had left my laptop and phone charger at work, thank you all for your concern! It was all perfect, lots of wriggling from the little one, and it's just my body, not our lovely baby! Hopefully other people may see this and realise bleeding not always the end of things. Am so relieved and so grateful to you all for getting me through the last few days xxx
