Glucose in urine

I am only 9 weeks pregnant and I have glucose in my urine. The midwife said nothing to worry about. But should I be worried? I thought gestational diabetes didn't happen until the second trimester.

A trace of glucose isn't unusual, and usually it's nothing to worry about. You'll be having your urine checked every time you see the midwife, and if it shows glucose again next time then it will be checked out - the chances are that it won't show any.

Easier said than done but try not to worry about it.

Had you by any chance pigged out on something sugary shortlyn before collecting your sample? My MW said this can cause false alarms.

agree with first two posters. I had loads of false alarms, prob due to my craving for extra strong mints!

I had the same issue (admittedly at 35 weeks so somewhat later than you). Went for sugar series testing and all came back clear - turned out it was due to me having a chocolate fest the day before both of my samples . My reccommendation is to be good and eat nothing sugary for 2 days before your next appointment.

Hopefully all will be well for you and you need not worry any more
