BUT IT WAS ON MY BACK AAAAAARRGH!!!

I'm 20 weeks, I should not be doing this! I've got my scan tomorrow and am really nervous about it anyway and now I wake up like this. I had 3 pillows under my head, would that make a difference??

Felt no baby twitches yet this morning, I hope it's ok!

I slept on my tummy. Also 20 weeks pregnant. You can't do much about the way you sleep! Your baby will be fine! Relax!

I don't think sleeping on your tummy is as bad is it - as long as you can physically lie in that position? I might be wrong.

They say not to lie on your back when heavily pregnant as the baby can squash a blood vessel or something and cut off blood supply, to you not the baby I think.

I think its cause it can make you pass out. I'm not entirely sure but I used to end up on my back all the time and my dd is fine! :)

Yeah, there's conflicting reports though - some say don't lie on your back in late pregnancy, some say in 2nd and 3rd trimesters - it's all very confusing!

It is so painful for me to sleep on my side, even with pillows all around me, between my knees and my dream genii. I'm sure I'll get more sleep with a newbornWink

I don't think you're probably big enough for it to be a major concern at 20 weeks. Are you sure you slept on your back the whole night anyway? I'm sure that I toss and turn every five mins!

Calm down and remember in our parents generation nobody said "Sleep on your left side". Try to favour the left or begin on the left, but that's all you can do.

Thanks ladies. I think the pre-scan jitters aren't helping. It's a tad scary this 20 week scan lark.

I'm 25 weeks and sleep on my back (due to back . pelvis issues). Discussed this with my doctor this week and she said it was absolutely fine and that women have been sleepiing on their back since time began. Smile
