Week 15 and feel like utter crap!

Having felt reasonably fine up until last week, I now feel dreadful. Headaches daily, no energy, constant nausea and generally knackered. I kind of expected to be feeling better now, as everything I've read says i should be entering the wonderful blooming second trimester! Have I been utterly misled by crappy pregnancy apps??

It's easy to read those apps and think things arent right cause your not feeling tht or experiencing that, you need to remember that everyone is different and experiences different things,

I only had a bit of nausea during my first trimester and yet my sister (who is 2weeks ahead of me) was being sick all the time.

Around 15 weeks I was experiencing bad headaches, but I've always had an issue with them. But after a couple of weeks I was fine, and since then I've only experienced the odd one, usually when my sister is about.

I hope sometime soon you'll be feeling a bit better, keep chin up it doesn't last forever.

X

I'm 15 weeks and feeling rubbish too. I've read baby has a growth spurt about now so am thinking it may be that. I can't see much blooming going on here anytime soon!

debdee · 16/06/2012 17:48

I'm 16+1 & on Mon-Weds felt terrible. Sick dizzy, headaches, exhausted, thurs, day ached everywhere. Been back to normal the last couple of days so hopefully just a temp thing for you too!

PurplePidjin · 16/06/2012 18:15

16+1, why did no one warn me my immune system would be shot to shite? I've had two doses of nearly-flu and now a tiny cut that's caused phlebitis all up my leg and I've been limping for a week!

They didn't put that in their swanky emails!!

You have my utmost empathy, everybody Brew

silvachick · 16/06/2012 22:38

I'm 15 weeks and I also feel like crap. Tiredness like I've never known, very body weary and spotty face. I actually feel bloody ill. Wanna start my mat leave now lol

opalescent · 17/06/2012 13:45

Well I'm relieved to hear that I'm not alone, although you all have my sympathy tooSmile
I can only describe my mood yesterday as incandescent hormonal rage. ALL DAY!!
I'm thinking the baby growth spurt theory sounds possible, I certainly feel like I've had a hormone surge this weekend!!
Best wishes to everyone x

According to the NCT email i just read obsessed mum of pfb who's signed up to all the spam they double in size between weeks 13-16 Shock

Two things which might help

  1. Drink lots of water. It was around 3-4 months when I fainted on the train because if heat and I know I'd hadn't drunk enough. Your LO will be taking a lot out of you, even at this early stage and dehydration is one if the biggest causes of headaches
  1. Make sure you get BP taken next time you're at the DRs or MW appt. Sometimes headaches can be sign of high BP

My bets are it's not enough fluid, or you're not sleeping as well and as restfully as you were before

HTH?!

ButtonBoo · 17/06/2012 16:56

And silvachick...your skin will soon clear when the hormones get under control. My hair, skin and nails were the best they've ever been in the 2nd half of my pg. You'll be blooming!!!

ilovemyoboe · 17/06/2012 16:58

I wonder if anyone actually does have that blooming/glowing feeling that is supposed to happen in the second trimester? I didn't last time, and haven't so far, and I'm 18 weeks.

The single best thing that the midwife has told me so far is to try liquid iron supplements. You can buy these from health shops or from large pharmacies, and Tescos and Morrisons definitely have them too. I've tried Spatone which is quite expensive. Think my fav one is Vitabiotics Feroglobin B12, which has liquid iron, minerals, zinc and B vitamins. (About £3.50 ish a bottle in Morrisons.) You can take it through pregnancy - follow dose recommended for pregnancy - and it doesn't have the level of nasty side affects that iron pills do (had those last time!). I had the max dose of 3 x 5ml daily and after 3 days the utter exhaustion started to lift. That was about 3-4 weeks ago i think. Think I'll just keep topping up with 2 x 5ml now and see how it goes.

Tried Spatone too. That tastes better, but it's very expensive and I find the liquid sachets hard to take without spilling half of it!

So, if you're feeling completely knackered, give this a go. I didn't realise that your body does need more iron than usual in pregnancy, so I think even if your blood results come back 'normal' i.e. you're not officially classed as anaemic, then if you're feeling exhausted past 13 weeks, it's worth trying a liquid iron supplement anyhow.

NB Don't take an iron supplement within at least 30mins of anything containing tannin e.g. tea (black tea, not redbush) or wine, as that reduces the level of iron your body will absorb.

Hope this helps some people. :)

HappyCamel · 17/06/2012 16:59

Me too, also coming up 15 weeks. Do make sure you are drinking enough and get checked for anaemia at your 16 week check.

ilovemyoboe · 17/06/2012 17:00

oh, but my hair has been much better since pregnant both times, and doesn't need washing so often, so I suppose that is one plus point:o

ButtonBoo · 17/06/2012 21:59

Ilovemyoboe...my hair was wonderfully glossy and thick during of and now I've got alopecia!! 2 £2 coin sized patches underneath my hair.

Talk about giveth and taketh away!!! Not sure DD will like me bald so hope it doesn't get much worse Wink

ilovemyoboe · 18/06/2012 21:26

How're you feeling today opalescent?

ButtonBoo - poor you, no hope it doesn't get worse.

ButtonBoo · 18/06/2012 22:06
