I know it's never 100% but we were told that DC2 looked like a boy. I had another scan earlier due to minor complications and sonographer said looks like a girl eek! DD1 was freaked out at the idea of a sister so we were thrilled for her that it's a boy. Now, well, it's likely not given that this scan is at 29 weeks. I have another scan in two weeks so we'll try to get a better idea then. Nursery is painted light blue and we've been selling girls clothes - bah! Haven't sold too much so not a real problem but what a drag! DH and I are happy with a healthy child of either sex but oops.

Sorry, that's not clear. We originally were told boy at 20 weeks but now at 29 weeks, looks more likely to be a girl.

That is something I think of. I had a private scan at 17 weeks and they said it is 2 girls. I have my 20 week scan next week and I have I am worried the sonographer will say something different. I have my heart set on two girls!

I bet it was a shock!

Wow i can sympathise, i had gender scan at 17 weeks and told 2 girls, confirmed at 20 weeks scan but i ask consultant every time im scanned to check no winky has grown!! I had the steroid injection last week and joked after that i hope it hadn't made a winky grow, don't think ill be confident i have girlies until they are born! Grin

Hope you get confirmation at your next scan x

You dont want to hear this but they can get it wrong. We have friends who this just happened to ! They were expecting a girl and she has just had a little boy!

LittleWhiteWolf · 14/06/2012 19:34

I'm not seeing a problem WRT the nursery being painted light blue.

Anyway, this is one reason why DH and I waited for the surprise. Can't it wrong if you're looking right down at the important parts in question!

I have recently had 3 friends/acquaintances who have been told they are having girls and have had boys think there must be a rubbish sonographer somewhere!! I have been told this baby is a girl but im not convinced!! Grin

WinkyWinkola · 14/06/2012 19:40

It's very rare they get it wrong though particularly with mistaking a girl for a boy at 20 weeks Perhaps the first sonographer wasn't that experienced?

Anyway glad to hear you're not upset BUT it is unsettling to be told one thing and then the other. I'd hate that.

Maybe you should hold off selling / buying clothes or anything until baby is born!

We had wanted to find out the sex as DD was having some difficulty with understanding her place in the family with regard to the new baby and we thought that finding out would help. DH, whilst happy with either sex, was excited at the thought of a boy and so went traditional on the room colour. Obviously not a real issue. Very much looking forward to the next scan!

My friend has had three kids. The first they said was a girl, she had a bot. The second they got it right with a girl. The third they said 'it's a boy' and a girl popped out. Don't be too sure unless you have amnio or CVS done.

TodaysAGoodDay · 14/06/2012 19:47

*bot obviously boy haha

And I don't mean have amnio to see the sex, I mean you can't be absolutely sure unless you've had that done earlier in the pregnancy.
