and now I'm convinced I've 'jinxed' myself.

I'm just over 6 weeks pregnant (although I have long cycles so am sure I'm more like 5+5) and booked an early scan for around 8 weeks to confirm viability. I had a MMC last September which I discovered at an early private scan and had to have an ERPC. I'm convinced now that I've formally 'acknowledged' this pregnancy, that it means I'm going to lose it again. I'm being completely irrational of course but it's just such a headfuck. Couldn't bear to wait till 12 weeks though.

Anyone else superstitious and driving themselves nuts?

I can empathise - I'm 26w pregnant after a MMC at 14w last year, and all the way through I've thought this... from booking an early scan, seeing the midwife, signing up for NCT classes and to buying my first item for the baby (at 21w!).

I think it is natural to worry after previous disappointments, but it's also important to keep perspective that the worries we have are not based on logic or fact, but on emotions and that every pregnancy has a far better chance of going well than badly. I try and give myself a bit of a talking to when I get a bit superstitious!

I'm sorry for your previous loss, and I hope that the scan goes well!

Hi beans congratulations on your pregnancy. A loss at 14 weeks must have been devastating. All the best for a happy and healthy remaining 14 weeks(ish).

I know I'm being ridiculous as nothing I type on the internet, say to a Doctor or see on a scan is going to make a difference as to whether or not I get a healthy baby at the end of this (otherwise pregnant 16 year olds everywhere would be tempting fate by shouting their pregnancy news from their rooftops!). It's just a protection mechanism I guess, not wanting to build my hopes up to have them crushed again.

Good luck to you
